I have purchased Dazzle V?D Platinum device And I have been unable to get Pinnacle Studoi programme to connect to my video device. I am using a Sony Digital Video recorder/player model GV-D200E, I have also tried a Sont Digital Video Camera DCR-TRV720E. On each occasion I get the message Video Device not found, I have tried to resolve the problem using the adice given, under capture source I have not been able to locate the lefthand panel on the discometer to set the correct video input. Both Sony Vedio devices state Digital but the recorded video is on a Hi8 cassette, if the output of the two devices are in digital format should the Dazzle device be connected to the computer by way of Firewire or 1394 port. I would appreciate a detaild wiring diagram showing the correct metod of connection between my video player, the Dazzle unit and the computer. Thank you.

The installation instructions are as follows :
    1. Put the installation CD into your CD-Rom drive.
    2. Connect the Dazzle device to an open USB port.
    3. An “Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box with USB Composite Device” will appear. Press Next.
    4. Choose “Search for the best driver for your device” and press Next.
    5. Uncheck all the boxes and press Next.
    6. Windows should find the driver at “c:\windows\inf\ich2usb.inf”, press Next.
    7. Now you will have to restart your computer.
    8. An “Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box with USB Device” will appear. Press Next.
    9. Choose Search for the best driver for your device and press Next.
    10. Check Specify a location and press browse.
    11. If you are using anything but WinXP, open the CD-Rom with the installation CD and choose the “Windows” folder. If you are using Windows XP then choose the WinXP folder. Press Next.
Now your Dazzle Digital Video Creator should be installed properly. Open the CPC CaptionMaker and select the button in the “Preview Window” panel. Click “Enable Video”. If video is being streamed into the Dazzle device you should now see video in the preview window.

I purchased a Pinnacle Dazzle to connect my Sony DCR-HC38 to my computer. I do not know how to connect the camcorder to the Dazzle device.

Sony DCR-HC38E should have an interface called 1394, or the firewire. so you need to use a FireWire cable to connect it to your computer's firewire interface, some laptops have it built-in, If you don't have one on your computer, you can either purchase a IEEE1394/FireWire adapter, which should be under 100 or even $50.
Connector Type1.0 x Composite video/audio output , 1.0 x S-Video output , 1.0 x USB , IEEE 1394 (FireWire/i.LINK)

Welcome to Fixya,

Disconnect your dazzle DVC 170 and reconnect back to another usb port. Go to your control panel then device manager look for sound video and games controller, Right click on the Pinnacle DVC 170 video drive device uninstall. Restart the computer. After restarting let the computer do the automatic install then after that try again.
