SOURCE: dryer stopped spinning, timer still ticking, cannot get to restart.

Can you still hear the motor turning? If the motor is running but the drum is not then it is probably a broken belt or there may be something blocking the drum from spinning. The first thing to check is if the drum will turn by hand. If so, the next thing to check is if the belt has broken or slipped off. Although it is a bit cumbersome to replace, it is easy to diagnose. Unscrew the screws holding the back of the dryer on and pull the cover off. Look at the pulleys on the motor and see if the belt is intact. If those solutions don't do the trick, let me know and I will try to give you other options.

SOURCE: timer ticks, but dryer does not run

Sounds like door switch. Open door and push on door switch. you should here a clicking noise. If you can open the top of the dryer. put the 2 wires together of the door switch. Make sure it is unplugged when doing this. Make sure you use electrical tape when you put it together. Temp fix. Get a new switch

Go to www.repairclinic.com and enter KEYS850GGQ0. With luck, you will be presented with a list of common replacement parts and may be able to view a generic disassembly video which will help you locate the source of the noise.

Whirlpool dryer shuts off at the end of cycle, but timer continues to tick. It ticks through the next cycle and stops ticking at that cycles off?

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

The timer could be the problem. To check this, turn the timer to a timed cycle say 30 minutes or so then time it. If in 30 minutes the timer hasn't moved and the dryer is still on, the timer is faulty replace it If in 30 minutes the dryer is off, the heating element is your problem

Heating Element
This is the most likely cause for some dryers timer not advancing. Some dryers have two heating elements and if one goes out the timer will not advance if you use it on an automatic cycle but you will still feel heat inside the tub. Replace it.

Will not start but its making a ticking sound

Electric or gas dryer?
Depending on where the ticking sound is coming from, without more specific information, many dryers use a timer within their dial for timed drying. If the switches are malfunctioning, the ticking of the "timer" can still continue.
If you can hear a whirring sound, which would be the motor, then it may be the drive belt. If this is the case, then the ticking of the timer may be more noticeable due to it being quieter without the spinning drum.

If you have a gas dryer and the ticking is from below, then it may be the ignitor that's faulty. However, that shouldn't cause your dryer not to turn on. It that case the dryer would spin, but not get warm.
With more information, I may be of better assistance.

Dryer won't come on door is closed timer ticks the

you need to open front panel or top, depends on brand and model...
you will see door switch there, to check you will need electrical meeter, unplug from power before opening it.
check continuity of switch, by pressing/depressing it.
if it's working than check start button switch if your model has it.

Whirlpool dryer will not stay on. I can hear the timer ticking but when it turns on it only stays on a minute or so and then buzzes and turns off.

Change your timer. Your timer has gone bad. If you give me the serial number and make and model I can give you some places to go to buy a new timer. They are fairly cheap about 25 dollars or so

Whirlpool dryer

Ticking is from timer.
Check the door switch and the thermal fuse located on the exhaust vent.
