Why would the trunk ajar light come on and the digital clock and stereo quit working?

I let someone drive my car and the lights were left on overnight - then when I drove it at night my radio, clock and lights would surge on and off - the next day it wouldn't start easily, we had a local auto parts store read our codes and they checked the battery and alternator - after I replaced the battery, we noticed there was still a light on without the car turned on - anyway now the lights are back in automatic off and the car runs normal. Wish I would have checked if any lights or overhead lights were left on first before I got the new battery.

2003 Toyota 4runner: Half our dash does not light up. This is the portion that usually displays the temp setting in the car and usually lights up when the car starts - not just when the actual headlights...

My right side of this center dash window light that displays the temp.reading also went out on my 2003 4Runner. The letters & number were readable, but the back light was out to see everything at night. My mechanic said the bulb was out and he had to pull the section off surrounding the whole center dash portion that encompasses the radio, mileage, a/c & radio section. I left it up to them to do, since they said it would take an hour. Now the whole section lights w/o any problems.

Car has not been driven for about a week, we had below freezing nights for a few nights. light, radio, electrical seem to work ok. motor makes an effort to turn over, shakes a little and makes a squeal...

drain and flush the cooling system and make sure that you use a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water when you fill it back up.

Common issue.... Most people are under the impression that if you use straight coolant in a vehicle, it will never overheat or freeze. WRONG...WRONG...WRONG,

Coolant needs water to activate or it will freeze just like water will.

2001 Pontiac Bonneville won't start

have you not left any load on overnight?..like park light or left the door partially open and the dome light would be left on?

have the battery recharge and the next night, make sure that no light would be left on the car.

if it would drain out again, have it recharged again, use it and on the night, make sure no light is left on the car, then remove the positive pole on the battery overnight.

the next morning, put the positive cable back and start the car.

if the car would start, then no problem with the battery, if the car would not start, then return the battery because it is defective.

tnx 4 using fixya,
