I ran the acer recovery disk that i made when i first got my netbook. it seemed like it did everything right, but then when i rebooted without the disk it went back to the black screen with the curser blinking in the upper left side of the screen.
How long did you wait? sometimes on first boot after recovery it take a few minutes. if you don't get any error messages i'd wait and see, if you wait for a long time and nothing happens reboot and try to do the recovery again.

Are you trying to access your original recovery software the one that is located on a separate partition? If you are and aren't able to, that particular partion might be currupted. your only option would be to try to install your software with a disc.
I hope this helps.

When your pc first comes on, you'll see some options at the bottom, ie "press f11 for setup". Gotta be quick, Press the option to enter the setup menu, You should see "press any key to boot from disk or dvd", do that and it will load your disk. If it gives you a list to choose from, youll see your ext hdr listed, choose it and viola!

If possible try to connect a USB mouse and use that to enable the touchpad...
After that reinstall the drivers for the touchpad the issue should be fixed... Even if you still have the issue then call the computer manufacturer.
If you dont get a USB mouse.. Then turn on the computer get into safe modem by tapping F8... Try to check in safe mode whether the touchpad is working.. If its working reinstall the drivers the issue will be fixed

Some Viruses DO attach to the files in the recovery set up. They can also replicate themselves in files used to go back to an earlier time when things where running ok. The best thing to do is clean the system of any Viruses, Many good FREE programs on the net, Search for Malwarebytes, This is a very good free anti malware program, then Avast antivirus. Free to use and very good up to date programs.
