No power, No Display - test voltages on secondary side of transformer were pulsating
Check diodes 6230, 6240, 6210. They are BYW98 Rectifiers, in my case it
was s/c. Thanks to Sparky for similar tip - Philips CD Model: CDR770/00
No power and no output
Replace C6 with 4.7uF, 250v
No power, voltages on secondary side of chopper were very low and pulsating
Check diode 6230. It's a BYW98, in my case it was s/c. Note: it's the rectifier for the 14v line
Dead, no power up on pin 2 of ic601
Replace x601 on main processor ic601

Hello
Its poser SMPS bard inside is not working properly. This board supplie low tension voltages to the other circuit boards of the device. It is a Switch Mode Power Supply [SMPS]. Normally repairing is not effective to this board. Replace the board as card basis is good. you can bought it from most of the elelctronic spare part shops at your town. There is a number printed on the printed circuit board and it is its identification. Note that number, and buy the same type. OK.
sounds like a bridge rectifier diode has shorted replace the bridge or make your own use 4 1000 piv diodes. can be purchased at radio shack. be sure to connect the diodes annode to cathode when making the bridge. also when a component shorts it generally opens the next component in series.in youre case i would definatley check the filter caps.sometimes if overloaded they will actually be swelled otherwise you will have to take them out of the circuit and read them with a cap checker on a quality multimeter. if bad be sure to mind polarity when replacing! electrolytic caps have a positive and neg. leg the board will be marked
Have you tried cleaning the player with a disc made for cleaning optical drives? These such units are available at retail locations such as Traget and Best Buy.http://www.target.com/Memorex-DVD-Laser-Lens-Cleaner/dp/B000P0OJ8O/ref=sc_qi_detailbutton
Enable the component output on the DVD player menu. Sometimes the component output is shared between RGB/S-Video/Component, make sure you select Y/Pb/Pr on the player's menu.
If it is the power supply then the whole unit should be replaced.
Or it indeed may be the power on button its self.
Only technician with the appropriate knowledge of the particular machine will be able to tell and have the means to check it out.
