Hello, welcome to Fixya!

The unit not powering on is an indication that it has a power fault.

First, remove the microwave's power cord from the wall, wait for about 30mins, then plug it back in. It may cool by then and might power on. If it doesn't power on, plug it into another outlet, to make sure there electricity entering into the unit.

If plugging into another power outlet doesn't power it on then the unit is most likely having a power problem.

When electric current comes from the power outlet into the microwave, it goes straight into the power supply board which then circulates the current into the unit. So if the microwave doesn't power on, the first thing is to make sure there is power entering into the machine.

So check the power cord, if it is a 3-pin plug, it must have a fuse in it. check the fuse if it is not blown. if fuse is intact, then power supply board should be checked.

If any machine or electronics device doesn't power on, it means its having a power problem. It might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This microwave must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the microwave turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter and continuity tester in order to read the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store within our vicinity. You might also find visible bad component without testing with a meter. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Regards.

Something in the door is causing microwave to shutoff. Sensor is on, but then shuts down unless, also you hold a certain pushing in the button.

Adjust the latch switch assembly to make sure that the door hooks engage with the switches. Loosen the 2 phillip screws holding the assembly and slide back and forth to adt. Retighten when the door hooks are making solid contact with the switches.

What year is my kenmore solid state microwave? Ive tried to look it up but i cant seem to find anything on it

All microwave ovens are required by law to have the date of manufacture printed right on the label that has the model and serial number on it. Look inside the microwave, usually just inside the door.

Hi I have a new Kenmore microwave model 721.8503 - it is a month old and wont turn on.. I close the door and the light stays on and it wont work..the door is completely shut

It sounds like the light switch isn't being deactivated which is preventing the microwave from operating (a failsafe).
Look to see that the buttons inside the microwave (where the latches are inserted when you close the door) are actually being pressed.
They may be out of place, obstructed, or your latches on the door may be damaged.
If you don't see anything wrong, try pressing the buttons yourself (with a pen bottom) to see if the light goes off.

Disabling the beep on a Kenmore microwave

I have Kenmore microwave model 721.61820100.
It has an "Option" button. Press it. The display say "NUMBER"
Then press "1". The display should say "SOUND" and then "OFF".
Press "Start" and that beast turns silent, well not really, but the beeps are goooone.

If for some reason you don't like it this way repeat the sequence and the sound this time will turn "ON".

Kenmore 665 68610891- built-in 1998 model

Fan relay on circuit board stuck. Give it a tap (the relay), to free it up. Otherwise get the relay or driver transistor replaced. Easy fix. Take it to an electronic repair place, not the brand agent.(They,ll just replace the whole board). If this Item is under warranty you should not be wasting my time.:::Spiceweasel.au

Kenmore elite microwave

Does the digital display light up at all? Is it completely dead? Are you sure it has power? Have you tried another outlet? If the outlet is good and the unit is completely dead, the internal fuse may have blown. You can try to take the cover off (with the unit unplugged) and look for a blown fuse. Try replacing the fuse with an EXACT fuse of the same rating. Try plugging the unit back in again and see if the unit comes back on. If not, you may have a power supply issue or defective Magnetron.

Please let me know what you find and we'll go from there.

Good Luck,
- Jim
