Best bet is to talk to the Dealership, they have technitions that can better handle the situation.
My guess is they will tell you that the only method would be to either, "brute force" hack it trying an infinite number combination, or to buy a new head unit.
Best of Luck.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must have the security anti-theft code for your Audi radio from the car manufacturer, or from an Audi dealer! You can find the radio code at: http://www.radio-code.co.uk/
The sequence of programming for 2001 Audi A6 radio is: 1. Push simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys until on the screen will appear "1000" displayed. 2. Release keys. No more push on "SCAN" and "RDS" keys because otherwise number "1000" will be considered as first safe code attempt. For example: we have the security code "5079". Then: 3. By the no.# 1 key you will set up the first safe code digit. Push 5 times on the no.# 1 button. The "5" number will be setted. 4. By the no.# 2 key you will set up the second safe code digit. Push 10 times on the no.# 2 button. The "0" number will be setted. 5. By the no.# 3 key you will set up the third safe code digit. Push 7 times on the no.# 3 button. The "7" number will be setted. 6. By the no.# 4 key you will set up the four-th safe code digit. Push 9 times on the no.# 4 button. The "9" number will be setted. 7. if you have the factory code card it is possible to change the code to one only known to you.the previous owner has not done you any favours as you need to have the radio recoded.see yellow pages.
try another dealer. maybe try to get ahold of one of the techs at lunch time. this info should be free to the car owner, just be ready to supply the title to the car for some proof. maybe try buying the parts guys lunch or coffee and donuts....this usually works for this type of problem. unfortunaley this info really is dealer only..
i) fuse box for the audi A6 is most probably on the right side close to the driver;s seat by the steering wheel. The driver door must be open to access the fuse box. Please check owner's manual.
ii) in the 2002 Audi A6 it is fuse #37. Please check owner's manual.
iii) remove the fuse for the radio then replace fuse.
iv) start the engine
v) the radio most probably will reset it self but you should not have to enter the security access code for the radio.
let me know how the works.
thanks
the radio is in security mode and requires a 4 digit code to release the radio back into operation. the code is usually inside the owners manual on a preforated type card. maybe first couple pages. (if the manual is still even in there) or maybe previous owner has written it down in manual somewhere. if not then the dealer may have to extract it through their scanner. may cost $$. the 4 digit code will start with 1 or 0 if you happen to find code, reply back to me and ill help you enter it, may be in manual as well. hope this helps
