Normally you would use a masonry bit to drill into ceramics eg tiles or bricks. if the plate is glazed it is better to stick some masking tape or adhesive backed paper on the area to be drilled to stop the drill bit slipping around. also i would be inclined to use a hand turned drill or a small battery powered drill if you have one to avoid breakage of the plate.

The pad on my "Paint Eater" stops turning as soon as I touch it to the wall.

I just fix one.Had to take apart the transmission to see that the flat spots on the planetary gear plate where seared off.Once I found this I removed the gear from the plate and located the flat spots from the back side. Now I drilled a 3/32" hole as close to the shaft bore as possible without breaking through the bore one on of the flats then one in the other flat. Now take a 3/32" tension pin and cut to 3/8" inch long. Now insert it in the hole you drilled make sure u tap it flat on the gear side of plate. You are done now reassemble the transmission, and you are done.Hope this help you. John.

Hi Anonymous, I dont think so. Did your MPG improve? As long as your engine oil temperature stays between 180 and 220 you will be fine. Good luck

I need to replace the ignition pickup on a 97 is behind the 5 logo

Yes, it is behind this plate in the timing cavity. Drill the rivet heads off so you can get the round plate off. Drill just deep enough to drill the head of the rivet off using a large drill bit. Once you get that and the other plate off, mark the original sensor plate and the inside of the timer cavity in such a manner that you can take the old sensor plate out and install the new plate in exactly the same spot. You must do this correctly or you'll have to reset the ignition timing. I usually use the very end of the slot on the plate or something like that for a reference point on the plate. Mark the inside of the timer cavity on edge. You'll also have to unpin the plug or cut the wires of the old sensor. Take the old pins out of the plug making a drawing of how the wires go into the plug, what color wire goes where. Put the wires through the hole and put the new plate in and secure the holding bolts. Repin the plug. If you put the original plate back on, you'll need new rivets. DO NOT USE STANDARD RIVETS. You must use Harley-Davidson rivets. Standard rivets will allow the broken off end to get into the timer cavity and damage the "cup" behind the plate and maybe the end of the camshaft.

There's a special tool that is available at most part stores or tool rental stores. It's used to press down on the plate allowing it to be released.

Mounting the router under the table - what is the procedure and how does it work for a different brand of router i.e. Portercable?

Your insert plate should have holes to screw the base plate of your router to it. Do you have an insert plate? It's a must. The plate also has leveling screws at the corner so you can have it completely flush with your table top. Most plates fit the most popular routers, like Porter Cable. If your's does not fit, You can drill new holes into it without compromising its integrity.
Most woodworking sites carry different kinds of insert plates. You might also consider a router lift. I have one and consider it indispensable.

Hope this helps, if it does, please place a vote for me. Thanks,

Handie Andie

The Pearl BBC-1 bass drum masking plate does not fit the holes on my export bass drum

Your choices are few... get the correct plate, drill the one you have, or drill the drum.

I would opt to drill whichever part is the most replaceable which is likely the plate. Mark carefully an make sure it is square when you do so.
