The airflow wont change when i select face, feet, or windscreen

This problem first started when i noticed if i was going up a hill and had to increase speed, the airflow would automatically change to the windscreen. then when i was going down the hill, it would change back to blowing on my face. this happened for a couple of weeks, but now it wont change at all, it just stays blowing on the windscreen, even if i select face or feet on the dashboard it still wont change. can anybody help me with this problem please?

You have a vacuum problem . could be a leaky hose or broken vacuum line.

these flaps are controlled by vacuum from your engine. check the black hose from the canister in the engine compartment that goes to your firewall near your evaporator coil. this is the supply vaccum line going to the switch. if you don't have a vacuum source here, then trace the source.

This sounds like a bad TPS (trottle position sensor). When you step on the accelerator the TPS tells the computer you want to accelerate, and the computer then increases the fuel duration of the injectors. With out that signal the computer is getting additional info from the increased airflow into the engine, so it then increases the fuel to the engine, but you are getting a hesitation, due to the delay in the increase of fuel to the engine. Hope this helps and good luck :O)

The air flow is controlled by an actuator behind the dash. The part is sometimes called the heater control box. When you are selecting the air flow to change from the a/c controller. The signal is not being received to the actuator. The actuator is called the blend door.
You need to have the air /blend door actuator change. I think in this car is the air recirculation door. Same thing different name .

Good luck

I have a '99 Eddie B. Explorer....there is no light at the O/D

If you have the push button on the dash it is called an e40d tranny and if you do not have the button it is called and AODE tranny. Usually you should not see an increase in RPM's unless you are doing over 70 mph. At around 45 you will problem not see an RPM increase. As for the shudder when going up a hill it sounds like it is having issues going into overdrive could be a shift solenoid. Try having the tranny flushed and filter changed and see if this helps it out.

Hey there, i've found that water leaks from the top drivers side of the windscreen onto the body computer which is located in the fuse box you mentioned and causes corrosion it causes many different faults including yours. if you remove the right hand pillar trim and run a hose over the pillar and windscreen you will most likely see the water run from a seam about 3 quarters of the way up the pillar, seal this seams and either remove the fuse box and clean the plug behind the body computer or replace the complete unit again. i hope this helps regards chris
