Hello i have a problem with my dvd-rom drive.Although i can see it in my system information list and it there is indication that the device is working properly i can't see it in my computer list and its not reading anything(cd,dvd). It's like dead!! When i boot into windows it starts spinning but after that its gone. It was working until yesterday. Help please
I've used the system restore function and my dvd drive came back up.I think it was caused by a malware file i've downloaded within a game. Anyway thanx

Hi, For that problem, Try first replace that internal DVD-rom drive other good internal DVD-rom drive. if not Also Detected or recognize. Try this second solution. insertexternal USB type DVD-ROM. if not recognize also, Your operating system Have internal software device data corrupted. You need to reinstall operating System like windows xp, windows 7 (OS) etc.. to fix data Corrupted of operating system device for hardware software. Please see sample external DVD-rom USB type.
Just let me know if not yet working your Compaq Presario 700 series DVD-rom Drive. Thanks for using Fixya.
No all cds/dvd work in all cd/dvd drives. I suspect your drive cannot read that make of cd although anothers cd rom can. Try making a copy of the disk on someone elses pc and try that in yours and you will probably find it works. You could always copy the cd to a pen drive and install it on yours from that.
If you have not done so, under device manager, remove the dvd rom (cd-rom) from the hardware list, Use the CD install disk that come with your DVD-ROM, install the drivers and software, then reboot your pc and let it install the new hardware detected. This should get you going.
Please try to reboot your laptop then go to CMOS Settings and detect the CD/DVD Rom and try to see if it is detected by your system. If it is detect ted then exit CMOS Settings and then load the Operating system you have and ope the DVD/CD Rom you have. But if it does not detect the DVD/CD Rom then i advice you to find a computer technician to help you fix the problem cause hardware problem is the main reason why it does not detect the disk drive you have, its either the connection bus is not properly plug or the Disk drive is damage or not functioning well.
Hello my friend, please try to reboot your computer then goto CMOS and check if the DVD Rom that you have is detected by your system. If it does not detect then you can manually detect a device using CMOS function. Also try to check if the connectivity of your DVD Rom is not diabled otherwise enable it to detect your device. If all the above steps you followed then the result is still the same then please find a computer technician in your place then let him open and fix the problem.
If you need more assistance my friend please reply to this post.
Check you'r jumpers ei master slave. and all cables are hooked up right, power hook up are fully in. you may have to up date win xp. sp 2-3 so on. enter cotroll panel. system. hardware tab. device manager. look under dvd/cd-rom drivers if they are listed there 1st try to update the drivers. if that don't work then uninstall all of the dvd/cd roms listed there. then restart you'r computer. on the re start win xp install wis. shold find the roms and install them and update them. if that don't work you'll have to call the microsoft free help line. this is what they had me do when I had the same problem. you may in the end have to wipe and re install window, sorry to say. hope this helps you
Hi, i have LG GCC4522B CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive and my problem is that i could open & play CDs. However when i insert DVD the drive doesn't detect the DVD and it shows no DVD in drive or blank. I checked the region setting which is 1. Is it the problem of region setting if so is there any solution for this. Expecting your valuable solution in this regard. Thanks Moses
If you have put a Windows system disc in your dvd drive, then re boot your pc should find your cd then say press enter, but if it's stopping before you get there, an error has occured.
Did you hear 2 beeps(not together)
Go back into the bios and go into the 'standard cmos settings'
and at the bottom you will see a line saying 'halt on all errors'.
Also check that your HD drives are listed as they should be; and not an old drive, if you have changed your drive that is.
Dissable this and save settings and try booting again to your dvd drive.
A correction about earlier.I CAN'T see it in my system info.I've tried another dvd drive and a different connector but it wont read that one also
