Dont know specifically on the r500 but most laptops have hidden clips at the top of the function keys one on the left and one on the right (use a small flat head screwdriver you can usually see a small hole above the key) which allow you to remove the cover above the top of the keyboard and then its usually a couple of screws to remove the keyboard. dont usually have to remove the s.crews on the base.

Keyboard failure on dell dimension 2400

Your keyboard needs to be pluged into one of either a USB port, if it has a USB connection or a PS2 Port if it has a PS2 connection.

USB is the rectangular shaped port, while the PS2 is a round, usually purple coloured connector.

Try pluging it in and out, with USB connection type try another USB port at the rear of the chassis or on the front too.

It is possible that the keyboard is faulty, in other words it has come to the end of it's life. Meaning that you may need another keyboard.
Try this keyboard on another computer, a friends computer will do. You could even try a friends keyboard in this computer as another test.

Take care!

I need help taking apart my panasonic toughbook cf-48. I need to remove the cd drive. I think that will be the final step. I'm having trouble figuring out how to take it out.

CD drives usually slide out after removing one or two screws. Usually the screws are under the keyboard or come up from the bottom of the unit. I would suspect that you will see it under the keyboard.

The keyboard is usually held in place by a few screws at its top. You will most likely have to pry off the plastic button cover that spans the top of the keyboard to get to them. Some keyboard are also fastened through the bottom of the unit by a few screws.

Removing/replacing dvd rom drive

Hi Jerry
I have written down steps on how to remove the DVD-Rom drive for you.
Toshiba notebooks most screws are marked.
F4 - flat-head screw 4mm long
B6 - button-head screw 6mm long
F16 - flat-head screw 16mm long
B8 - button-head screw 8mm long

When you are taking apart a laptop you'll have to deal with lots of screws. Keep everything organized. I keep them in small cups separated easier to find and don’t get lost.
1. Remove the laptop battery
2. Carefully lift off the securing strip at the top of the keyboard.
3. Remove the keyboard securing strip.
4. Remove all screws securing the laptop keyboard.
5. Disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board. Lift the edges of the connector first and then carefully disconnect the keyboard cable.
6. Remove screws securing the power switch board.
7. Disconnect the USB cable from the system board \motherboard
8. Lift off the power switch board.
9. Remove all screw from the support plate.
10. Remove the DVD drive securing screw.
11. Slide the DVD drive to the right and remove it.
12. Slide in the new DVD drive and follow this backwards.

Hope this helps it is not hard just have to take time an becareful when removing the securing strip at the top of the keyboard to get to screws.

Any questions I will be glad to help answer for you.

R60 laptop keyboard removal

Samsung R60 plus laptop keyboard removal

Hi - It's relatively easy!

Remove battery.

Close (but not latch) the lid.

Gently press each hinge cover at the rear of the unit where it meets the base unit (You'll see a joint in the plastic) and get a satisfying click as it lifts. Carefully open the unit almost flat (- careful!) and use a small rounded watchmaker's or preferably similar dimension plastic / wood implement to lift the hinge through the hinge recesses until the switch/indicator plate clicks out at each edge. Then gently use light pressure to remove the rest of the plate away from the keyboard top side. There is a lifting point above the keyboard between the Pause and Insert keys if you need to apply a little extra pressure. There are several moulded clip pieces along the front (keyboard edge of the plate). There are no screws or wired connectors underneath - so lift away. There are two screws underneath the case which hold the keyboard in one either side of the CD/DVD drive locating screw. Turn the machine back over and locate the three plastic lugs in th case at the lower edge of the keyboard. Located near CTRL, Spacebar centre and Down Cursor keys, gently press each one towards the front of the machine with a flat edged implement starting centrally at the same time carefully lifting the keyboard unit. There is a flat ribbon cable connected underneath don't tug it but manouver the keyboard so that you can release it properly.

Job Done!

Replacement is an exact reversal of the removal process - use gentle care and firmly placed pressure to click the various plastic lugs int place.

Now ... about that spilt milk in the keyboard .....!

Acer travelmate 200 keyboard

Not sure what the question is.. but if you were looking for a replacement, I have had luck with several laptop keyboards on ebay, all under $30 apiece. Just do a search for your specific model, and find the best deal.
As far as how to install, well, that's a bit more involved. My advice is to have a few small containers to hold the screws. You may only need to remove the front plate that sits in front of the keyboard. There are usually screws holding in the keyboard underneath it. Usually, you just need to carefully pry it up enough to pop it off.
