Can't unlock maps - Garmin nuvi 1490T GPS Receiver

You can try to power down for hard reset(disconnect battery) and after connect again or reset to factory setting.

If its got a battery take it out to reset it. I would also connect to your computer to download more maps

There's 2 possible reasons for this;
1. The map is unselected or
2. The map is locked.

To select the map;

• Press TOOLS (The spanner icon on the screen that shows WHERE TO and VIEW MAP)
• Press SETTINGS or LOCALE depending on which is on your satnav.
• Press MAPS and then at the bottom of the screen press MAP INFO

The name of your map should be shown with a tick at the side of it. If it's not ticked press the map name and it will appear. The map is then selected.

I don't know if the approach G5 would unlock in the same way but there's a good chance it would since they're both made by garmin. All I can say is have a look at the information on the link, check if the information you need is available on myGarmin and if the same files are on your GPS. If all these are the same it should work.
