Well a) what are their technical names, b) how do i remove them and c) where can i buy replacements? Any answers soon would be great before I go ripping those things out and breaking it.

They are called capacitors. You have to unsolder the bad ones, and solder the new ones back in.I bought mine off Ebay.Radio Shack has some, but they didn't have the ones I needed, and they are more expensive. Here is the link to the ones that I bought. You will have to look at the ones that are bad in your TV to find out the size you need. You should try to get it as close as you can to the original one.You can get one with a higher value on both specs, but not lower. For example,if there is a 10V 1000UF 8MM in diameter, and a 16V 1000 UF 10MM in diameter, you can replace them both with 16V 1000UF in diameter, and it will work perfect. You can also use different heights as well,as long as there is enough room.I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

My 19 inch technica lcd tv won't stay on

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter..

I have a blinking red light and it wont cut on

I fixed this problem in my DVP642 by replacing a capacitor on the main power board where the power chord hooks in. Take the top cover off (after unplugging player). You'll be able to locate the bad capacitor on the circuit board located on the very right. Look for location marked c316 on the circuit board. A bad capacitor will be bulged up on top. The capacitor you're looking for will be a black barrel shape with an aluminum top, this aluminum top will be bulged up or leaking on the circuit board. Replace this capacitor by desoldering the two leads into the board and replacing with an identical part you can pick up at Radio Shack for a couple dollars. My repair for this identical problem was a success. The blinking light is the tip off for this particular problem on these Phillips models.
