Webcam just gone from device manager i am using cq 40 presario 317 tu laptop. my imaging device option is not shown in device manager. As i add imagiing device option from add legacy hardware it tell that now webcam is found and i dont understand it becauze my webcam is in build. after some days now my laptop always says in pop up bar that the usb doesnot recognize . is my webcam is broken or the wire of my inbuilt webcam is broken or wat may be the reason and i am using windows 7 ultimate operating system. please help me i am so frustrated

In build , does that mean its built in to the display bezel>?

this pC is relic, CQ40 is over 10 years old.
most this are are useless now. worth like $20 or less.
are you failing to say this is CQ40-317tu? clearly
that PC came with VISTA and nothing else ,ever.
so that tells me you put W7 on it with out HP support.
they do not have W7 for this PC< period.

so when you loaded w7, you then seen that cam is dead.
and you are connected to the web, and the windows 7 plug and play can not find the driver for said relic, camera chip
ever think that w7 does not support chip,. due to the maker of it does not exist now or never ever made a W7 driver ever,for it?

you used a MICROSOFT DISK to do this, so now its not working
due to not using HP disks, then wonder why it dont work.
well you did that, you are now on your own STEAM.
no support . from HP nor MS, if PNP fails !!!
if there is a cure, we do this, we use PCI scanner
to learn the true name of maker and chip using that tool.
then with that fact we go to there web page and look for a Windows 7 driver or that exact cam chip. if there is none
then go to the store and buy a new camera what has W7 support.

you did that when you LIFT HP support.
You will find other things bad tool.
but if all you do is email, it works.

the HP software is a bundled package of apps and drivers.
that work as a team.

microsoft does not do that.

there is NO DRIVER. if you try to find drivers that do not exist
