My all-in-one desktop computer has some really large fonts and when I go to change it, I can't, because I cannot get to the bottom of the page where it tells you to click apply or ok. How can I make the fonts smaller without being able to click apply at the bottom of the page?

How to change font size

A recent comment about small fonts in AOL Desktop prompted me to explain how to increase the size of your fonts in your Windows Operating System. AOL Desktop will recognize your preferred OS font size so that text throughout the program will be larger. (To increase your browser font size, which is handled separately, go to the Tools menu in the AOL Desktop browser, choose "Power Browsing" and go to "Page Display".) To set the font size in your Operating System (warning: this will apply to all your other applications, not just AOL), go to your Display Properties in Windows XP / Personalization Settings in Windows Vista. On XP, you can right-click on your PC desktop background and choose "Properties", then select the "Appearance" tab". Look for the "Font Size" menu at the bottom, and choose the dropdown for your preferred font size (e.g. normal, large, and extra large). In the screenshot below, you'll see the steps I just described below. I'm running "Large Fonts" so you can see how it impacts my window chrome...

Font sizing

Where do you want to change the font size on the overall computer or in a word document?

In a word document you will see a number at the top of the window that represents the font size that you can change. If you have problems within word there is a Help option where you can simply type: Font Size and it will bring up instructions to change.

To change font size on everything in the computer:
Find an open space on the windows desktop and Right Click then select Properties. When the Display Properties window opens click the Appearance Tab then look down towards the bottom left you will see where you can change the font size from Normal to Large or Extra Large. Change the size then Click Apply then click OK.

You can also get the Display Properties by clicking Start/Control Panel and look for Display or Appearance and Personalization. Once the display opens click the Appearance tab to change the font size.

Normal size for dpi

DPI, or "font size" is variable, depending on your monitor's native resolution, The resolution you have selected for it in Windows (Desktop-->Properties[right-click]-->Display Properties-->Settings), and what program you are currently using (browsers can be "zoomed").

I would try adjusting your monitor resokution first, before changing display font size. Try this page for some help with XP: http://www.andybrain.com/qna/2008/02/09/how-to-change-the-font-size-in-windows-xp/

This page for help in Win7: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/443-dpi-display-size-settings-change.html

There really is no such thing as "normal" DPI font size. Most people with decent eyes would probably use 96 as a standard.

To enlarge your font size:
For XP OS:
Right click on your desktop background, and select properties. A window will come up showing you the various system properties. At the top of this window click on appearance. At the bottom you would see the options to change the font size.

For Windows 7:
Option 1:
Click the start 'Windows button' at the bottom, the type either 'Appearance' OR 'Font size', then enter. You should be able to see the options for adjustment of font size.
Option 2
Right click on your desktop background, then choose 'Personalization'. this should take you to a window where you can edit different appearance settings. At the bottom, you should see font size. You can also edit your themes as well. Most time themes, change everything about the system including font sizes. Thanks
