did you try another power adapter? If it's not the problem of the power adapter, you might need to check again the power jack, Asus uses a very small power jack for EEE PC series, it is easy to loose on the motherboard..

To get into BIOS all computers have the same method. Press F2 at boot up while the POST is on and before you see the WINDOWS logo or whatever OS you are using.

Get into BIOS by pressing F2 at boot up. Under Boot Options select USB as No 1 followed by HDD. This will always enable the computer to look for OS on the USB failing which it will go to the HDD.

Which windows OS are you using? windows xp, 7 or 8?
Anyway the problem might be corrupted installation CD. If you install windows on other computer using this CD, so if CD is OK, then
start your laptop and press F8 repeatedly until Windows Advanced Boot Options appears. Then choose automatic restart on system failure. This option will allow you to see Blue Screen Of Death and to understand what causes a problem.

This might not your specific computer but it might give an insight on how to remove the hard drive

The first thing you should check is the volume at the audio mixer. Near the lower right corner of your screen locate the speaker (or something similar) icon, click on it and set the volume slider at a higher setting.
