Asus 1025c won't get any power

Asus eeepc 1025c, won't get any power from DC adapter. Power jack is ok, reads 19.40 V. Is there any fuse on the mobo? I can't find service manual or schematics..

Thanks for the reply. The power adapter is in proper working condition, as well as the power jack. As I said before, i get a strong reading of 19.40 V on the jack connector to the mobo. The origin of the problem was an accident (short circuit on the cable when the machine was plugged in) with the original adapter, now I'm using a brand new one.

Jorge, did you ever get a fix on this? I have a very similar problem on the same computer, only it's lighting up now (after jiggling a few things and re-assembly), but still no useable power or boot-up.

Did you try another power adapter? If it's not the problem of the power adapter, you might need to check again the power jack, Asus uses a very small power jack for EEE PC series, it is easy to loose on the motherboard..
If a power jack needed, check this page: http://www.lapdiy.com/asus-eeepc-eee-pc-1025c-netbook-dc-power-jack-socket-p-42259.html
wish this can help you.

It would be better to use the power adapter because the USB port can only output 2 amps.

Hi when plug in my ac adapter into lenovo x61 the tablet will not turn on i try it on other computer and it will on what happen?

LOL, sounds like your tablet has seen it's better days. See why HP got out of the Tablet business? They are nothing but trouble.

The power light is off The charger is OK with 19Volt The connector is OK and somehow there is a problem with in the power

remove the battery, connect the ac adapter and turn on the laptop. If it turns on then it's your battery. If it doesn't turn on then it is either your ac adapter, your dc jack, or your system board.

If it doesn't turn on then try a different ac adapter from your local pc shop or electronics store. If it still doesn't work then try moving the ac adapter connector and see if it attempts to turn on. If it does then it's your dc jack. If it is your dc jack then you will have to replace it. The problem with that is that it can be pretty expensive to replace it.

The way I have solved this is by ordering a dc jack on ebay or any other online parts supplier and replacing it myself. If you can take your computer apart and put it back together then it's just a matter of desoldering and soldering the new one. If you want you can have a pc or tv shop do the soldering for you.

Have fun and let me know if you have anymore questions.

My new EeePC 1005H with Windows XP shuts down as soon as I disconnect it from the AC and try to use it on the battery power. I read somewhere that this could be a software issue. If this is so how do I fix...

The Eee has a known problem with the battery meter in windows 7. There is another known issue with the CMOS (motherboard) battery dying after 12-15 months, which is definitely not your problem.
It very much sounds like you have a real hardware problem. To check this, go get hardware monitor from here and it will tell you the capacity of your battery (amongst other things).

No power

It will only heat up if power is being used, but it could also mean that the adapter is bad.

check with a multi tester inside for red and outside for black, check to see if you are getting at least 15 volts or higher voltage.

make sure you set the multitester to VDC, Thats Direct Current Voltage or DC voltage.

if you are getting power thru the adpater head try wiggling the tip a bit to see if theres a broken wire inside the head Adapter head tends to break at the tip sometimes.

if your getting power then you might have a broken adapter plug in the laptop, you might a suitable adapter plug at a electronic store or ebay, might need or reqiure some soldering on the board if you dont know how to solder i suggest you leave it to the PRO's.

if no power coming from the adapter then time to replace the adapter, i figure adapter last about 1-2 years before they need replacing due to wear and tear and neglect. If you do not take care of your electronics they will not take care of you!.

Good luck
