It could be one of several reasons why the inside unit is not running - but the most likely reasons are 1. the breaker is off - you need to turn on breaker or reset it if it's been tripped 2. the inside motor is bad and needs replacing 3. you have a problem with the thermostat and it's not turning on the motor 4. a relay or some other electrical component is bad

Obviously, the breaker is the easiest solution and I'm hoping that's all that's wrong with your unit.
If it is not the breaker - the other things need to be checked out which may or may not require you calling a serviceman.

Cooling doesn't stay on

The outside and inside coils may need cleaning. Clogged coils cause excess pressures and heat of the freon that can cause safety switches to shut er down. Eveen a faulty power relay in the outside unit.Otherwise you may need a serviceman to locate the cause.

Lg air condition doesn't work when it is cold outside

Sounds like the crankcase heater. This is likely hooked to a temp sensor that is activated when it gets below a certain temp. There is likely a short in the heater and it trips the breaker. The heater keeps the refrigerant warm inside the compressor when compressor not running. Find a different technician.

First you need to check some common things, like: 1. Check if the compressor is running. 2. If the compressor is not running, then you probably havebad capacitor. 3. Check the inside part of the unit, the air handler - you mayneed to change the indoor filter. 4. Check the condenser motor and condenser coil. Sometime thesetwo parts creates problem. 5. Also you need to check the evaporator fan, if it isworking properly. Finally andmost importantly check the Freon level. It seems like you have low Freon. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

I have a goodman gsc13 ac unit about 4 year old. When the temp gets around 90 or above outside the fan on the unit starts but the compressor does not. I had service check it out but that day they were...

It sounds like the unit may be over charged. Make sure the outside coils are clean and you have plenty of airflow coming out of the top of the outside unit. What could be happening is, when the temps get higher outside, so do the pressures in the system. The compressor has a thermal overload protection that will kick the compressor off if it gets to hot, which if the compressor is over charged, it will work twice as hard, over heat and shut off. You would need a technician to come out and get the refrigerant charge back to normal. Another thing that could be happening is a weak or faulty capacitor, which is a small round or oval metal object, found in the electrical compartment on the unit. This are fairly simple to change out if your comfortable with electric. I've also had to put what's called a hard start kit on compressors with the same problem, new and old. The hard start basically gives it that extra boost of power to get it up and going. I would start with the refrigerant charge and go from there. The electrical "humming" sound that you hear unless you turn the breaker to the furnace off, is the contactor on the outside unit having a call for cooling. The 24 volts come from the furnace, to the outside unit, and pulls the contactor in to power the unit with the 220 volts supplied. It is normal and you don't have to worry about that at all. I hope some of this helps and good luck!

Outside unit is not turning on but the inside unit is

I would check the fuses or breaker to the outside unit.
If nothing (either the fan motor or the compressor) is running - chances are you have no power to the outside unit.
It's also possible that your low voltage wire from the inside t-stat has been 'cut' or 'chewed into' (by a dog), but my guess is the fuses/breaker.

Remote does not work unless I am in the garage. Outside the door it will not work.

hello emar... check to be sure that the little wire antenna is hanging down from the back of the garage door opener motor. Then check it. If it still won't work from outside, install new batteries.

If that doesn't do it, remove the new batteries and use the eraser end of a common pencil to clean the battery contacts inside the remote. then reinstall the new batteries and try it again.

House HVAC Not Blowing

If the outside unit is running and the inside unit is not, probably a problem with the fan motor itself or its capacitor. If you have to have someone repair or replace the fan $200-$250 with parts, a capacitor for a service call and part $100 or so. Check it yourself first to see if there is anything obvious broken wire, hot connection, etc if you feel safe doing that. Turn the power off first. There is also a chance the thermostat could be the problem. Have you tried running the fan on the thermostat "fan on" setting?

Goodman air conditioner will not turn on outside

When ever you hear a buzzing like you are hearing means one thing one of the fuses on the outside disconnect box is bad. Only getting 1/2 the power. Find the bad fuse and get the same size and will be good to go. ken
