How do I charge my camera with a usb cord. It

You have to use the battery charger included with the camera, or a replacement unit. The camera does not have charging circuitry built-in. Connecting the camera to a computer runs down the battery faster, as the camera must then communicate with the computer.

My camera says that the card is full

If you used your computer to delete the pics, your camera doesn't recognize this action and sees the card as full. Format the card in the camera to get back to square one.

The lens will not retract

Aside from going to the Olympus web site and looking under their FAQs for an answer, you might check the batteries on this camera.

Not the large batteries, the ones that most people would think to change, but the ones that are about the size and shape of a quarter or a nickle. These don't run down as often as most other batteries, and usually have to do with saving the date and time, and other important settings. They may be related to this situation and if you can find out whether they still have a charge, that might help you to know whether they are causing this problem.

Beeps about 3 times and turns off. lense wont retract

Your problem may be due to a weak/worn out battery or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your battery may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

If this response helps, please post a rating for me. A rating of "Very Helpful" would be appreciated . .

After heavy usage at one event, the flash on my

Hi,

First, check whether the battery is full and its new, when the battery becomes older and cease to supply full power, you get the flash problem and White balance problems..

Secondly, check whether the camera is normal shooting mode, because in some shooting modes, Focus, exposure, white balance, will be loced and the flash will not fire, this is common...For eg: in Hi mode, flash is switched off..SImilarly you have preconfigured setting for each mode, ensure that you set it to auto mode before shooting

Thirdly, the flash icon keeps blinking or red light keeps blinking, then the problem you are describing is a problem with the flash charging indicator switch inside the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced

Fially try resetting the setting to default setting by chooaing reset default from the menu, it should restore your setting to factory default

If you still have problem, you can refer the product manual for your camera from the following link, it effectively explains the way to take clear photograph

Lense won't retract

Also try this, as it is often nothing to do with batteries! IUt is to do with dust and dirt in the lens mechanism. so..dont laugh!

OK you are probably going to think I am loony giving you this advise But No I am completely sane!

Get a can of compressed air OR acces to a compressor at your local garage Get them to fit the triggered air blower tool to it.

Blow around the lens in all the extension joins the firmly slap it in the palm of you hand with the side of the camera making contact with you palm. Do the procedure two or 3 times and inbetween the slaps turn it on to activate the lens mechanism. I have now fixed about 180 of these cameras with this method. I obtained the fix from Sony who charge $90 to do exactly the same. Keep at it as it will eventually work. One tip, make sure the battery is charged before you do this.

My Olympus stylus 1010 lens

first check out if the battery is properly charged or not.if the battery is too old go for new battery and check out.
----------------
as per the whirring noise it can be of gear motor if its getting blocked by any object or gears are worn out then this noise comes.the lens showing blurry image can be due to dust got collected on the lens or the alignment of the lens is got moved from its actual position.
---------
but this all problem together like whirring noise ,blury picture and the camera not turning on properly happens if the battery is old.also if the internal connection of the camera which contacts the battery.if they are dusty or faulty this problem occurs.so clean all connection and then check out./
----------
if battery is new still the same problem then it needs to be repaired by local camera repair person.get the cost estimate before getting it repaired.
-----------
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

My camera lens died and

check whether the lens is fully seated inside in its position.or its looking bit out of its position.if it looks bit stuck up.then try this. remove the memory card if any, charge the battery fully, once fully charged, hold the on button and push very lightly down on the lens. once it is fully in shut it off and pull the battery out for a few minutes.
do not push the lens in to hard, it will crack or get out of alignment.do it gently.
----------- also confirm if the battery is new not very old as old battery in the camera can create this problem. --------- try smacking at the sides of camera bit hard and then check out.dont pat on the front or back.only smack at sides. ------------if still the problem then it might be the gear motor which moves the lens in/out is fauty and needs replacement.get it replaced by local camera repair shop. ----------- This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

This happened to me once before...I had dropped my camera and it wouldn't turn off...I don't know if this will help but try taking out the battery and putting it back in. It forces the camera to restart.
Hope things go well for you!
