Date in my Olympus Stylus 1010 camera not showing on pictures

I set the date in my Olympus Stylus 1010 camera and I can see it on the view screen, but it does not show up on pictures. Is there a step I missed in the setup?

I had Canon and Sony cameras previously and when I transferred pictures from the camera into the program I use (PaintShop) the date was always visible in the lower right corner on each picture. I didn't have to do anything. With this Olympus camera there is no date. I know the info is stored with the picture because I can see it in the file information tab but I don't know how to make it appear on the picture itself.

Thanks, typrice. It seems that for some strange reason, the date can only be made visible when the pictures are printed, and not if they are displayed on a monitor. Not much use for me, since I rarely print. I will have to include dates in my filenames then.

It doesn't get printed on the pictures. The info is stored along with the picture and is called metadata. This info can be retrieved with most photo editing programs.

It seems that the only way to get the date printed on the picture is to use the Pictbridge feature. On page 42 of your owner's manual, it explains the procedure for choosing to have the date printed or not.

How to set date and time on image on an olympus tough 6020

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

I wuld like the date to appear on my printed photos. Is there a setting I can change on my camera to get this to happen?

The stylus Does Not have the option to burn the Date and Time data onto the photos directly.

However if you are plugging your camera directly into the printer the camera gives you an option to add the date.

Follow this link to the cameras manual

Date and time are set but don't show on screen or pictures

By default Olympus cameras do not print the date on the images when they are downloaded to a PC. Olympus does not include this functionality because they feel that it detracts from image quality. There is a function of the camera called print order or print reserve that you can set that it will print the date on the images but this is only if you take the card to a photo processing store. However if you use the Olympus Master software and print the images that you have previously transferred there is a check box in the print setting window that you can add the date and or time to the printed image.
