My acer al1706 monitor turns

You don't need to worry much about this I too had the same problem with my 5-8 year old monitor acer al1706.
I was worried and tried to find the answer on web I really didn't know what need to be done. Then what I did is just restarted my system many times and the problem solved.

Note: don't restart your computer very frequently just wait until it's booted.

I am Using ACER AL

This type of problems are commonly seen with the monitors and this generally happens due to a faulty display cable (vga Cable) or the connecting port or monitor driver (driver 10% only). Cable should not be tensed it should be comfortably plugged in. please connect both power and display cable properly. Also try replacing the cable at shop. just go on shop and check with a new cable. if this fixes the problem then get a new cable. otherwise this could be problem with internal display cable or something else internally wrong, which requires a technician.

My Acer x221w a monitor comes on for a couple of

leanish, Yes, your lcd is a viable candidate for REFURBISHMENT! Only I left out the word "MAYBE". YOUR words "on for a couple seconds" is the clue that places you into the "viable" catagory! Your stated symptom is CLASSIC of many thousands of other lcd owners whose screens are now BLACK and lifeless. Now for the FIX it part. First thing to do is visit YOUTUBE! FYI to help you make a decision to do the repair yourself or contract out the work to get your x221w back ONLINE. Search and view the longer vid clips of "lcd monitor disassembly","lcd monitor repair". Learn what internal components on the "switch-mode-power-supply" and "inverter circuit" cause the CLASSIC symptom refered to as the BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH. Also research my other posts in my profile on how to do the "rude&crude" flashlight test that every lcd display owner should know how to perform and interpret when the BSOD strikes without warning. It's not hard to do and you would then have provided another 2 lines of useful information along with AGE and or approximate total "ON" hours of use the unit has seen since the purchase date. One more thing that OWNERS fail to state is if the unit "is" or "is not" under warranty by the manufacturer! Warranty work is the very first thing to check because it's FREE!!! Well, anyway, I wish you good luck in your quest to fix your unit. If you need additional info you can always do a repost to fixya, or [email protected] I'm 12fixlouie on fixya If this response was of some help then please rate it on fixya. Bye for now.

I need the acer monitor drivers for windows seven

As I'm sure you're aware Acer doesn't offer a specific driver for this monitor. However, any driver for your video card that offers a 1280 x 1024 screen resolution should work. What screen resolutions does your current driver offer? If you want to update your video driver download a newer video driver from the firm that made your video chip. You can find out what you've got by launching Device Manager. (click on the start button and type device manager into the search box) If you decide to update your video driver click on Display adapters entry in Device Manager and right click on the video chip entry that will emerge as a subgroup. Select update driver software from the choices displayed when you right click. Then tell it where the driver you've downloaded is located.

Open and look at the tops of the capacitors. I bet there are at least 2-3 "bulging" tops. Replace them and the problem WILL be solved;.
