What is happening to your laptop is the power line connecting a few rows of pixels is failing so only partial colors are showing up causing the vertical lines. Usually screen replacement is the only answer to fix it. You can usually find replacement LCD on Ebay.

We don't know how to hook our Phillips DVD to our
The easiest way to connect this is to find the cable going from the receiver to the TV and disconnect it from the TV.
Connect this cable to the back of the DVD player where it says "in" or "input".
Next take another cable and connect it from the DVD player output to the TV.

Hi,
Have you tried to unplug and plug in the Device after few
minutes, say 30 minutes? If not, try it.
It is quite a common
problem with this model, you can try a clean on the lens, you can use a
DVD cleaning kit which you can buy from Radio Shack or similar or you
can clean manually.
To clean manually unplug from wall and leave
two minutes.Remove cover identify the lens as a small round glass lens
in the DVD tray assembly.Clean with the glass lens with a cotton bud or
similar, use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol or do the clean dry,
any other cleaning product could damage the unit.Remove any foreign
objects in the unit.Reassemble and test
If no luck then
you will need a new laser assembly I'm afraid.
Now, regarding Caps. Yes, it could be another Problem. When you Open the
Player, you would see Caps like :-
If you see, Cylindrical Type Components, all those are Caps. There might
be chance that any one of these could be Leaked / Bulged / Swelled.
Make sure that there is no Cold Solder Joint and there is no other
Broken Component on the Board.
If you find anything Swelled /
Leaked / Bulged, you could De Solder and Re Solder the New Caps. The
caps could be easily available in the Market. You could buy it Online or
you could go to Radio Shack, Fry's.Make sure to Buy a Similar one. I
have seen , if you buy a Low Quality Cap, it could again Swelled or
Blown.Usually Bad Caps have Ammonia Kind of Odor.
The Cost of
Caps would be less than $20.
I hope that the
above information would be useful for you to Resolve the Problem.
Let
me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks
for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Portable DVD player PET719 image not available,
Hello,
this problem is usually common with portable DVDs.
The fault is from the flex that connects the screen to the main board.
Fault also usually comes for screen board and the screen itself.
I would advice that you take it for a checkup so that the problem would be fixed.
This problem is a common one.
I wish you the best.
No disc
try cleaning it might help if not might just have to replace it
Philips PET710 DVD player shows 'no disc' when disc inserted
I have the same problem with my portable dvd player and found that cleaning the lens of the player using a non-alcolhol wet nap for cleaning eye glasses worked well. I also found the rail that the optics runs along while playing needed a very small amount of silicone greese applied using a Q-tip. You may find that the optic unit may be "stuck" somewhat but can be resolved by gently moving the optic along its guide using a finger.
This changed my unit from not working at all, to working intermittantly sometimes having to vary the player on and off to recongnise the disc. Hope this works
My portable dvd player has sound but no picture on the screen. pl
If you still have use of the on screen menu functions, you can try using the restore to factory setting option in the preferences section of the set-up menu. Press the setup button on the remote control and use the up and down arrows to find and highlight the preferences section, press ok to enter the sub-menu.In the sub-menu use the up and down arrows to find and highlight the default option. Press ok. This will reset the dvd player to the factory settings. If you do not have the use of the on screen menu, you can use the a/v outputs to a external monitor or television to perform the abouve procedure to try to restore the dvd player to normal operation. Broken lcd screen - PET704
You will find it is better to buy a new player. The cost of the part and repair will be about the same or more. You can still use the player with the a/v output to another monitor or television. I want purchase philips portable dvd player lens.
You must take the assembly out of the player and locate the part number. Then try using the search engines with the part number plugged in to the search to find a parts distributor or dealer that carries the part. The part number is the key to finding the part. You may have to purchase the whole drive assembly with the motor and and laser combined. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
Dvd player is unable to read cd showing NO DISC
You can try resetting the setting to the factory specifications. To do this on your remote push the setup button. Use the up and down arrows to find highlight preferences. Press ok to enter the sub-menu. Once in the sub-menu use the up and down arrows to find default. highlight this and press ok. Then press the setup button to exit. This will restore the factory setting and hopefully the full use of your player. If this fails to restore the operation of you dvd player, you can try using a lens cleaner and see if the dvd compartment needs cleaning. You can do this with a can of compressed air. If you need to clean the dvd lense use a cotton swab and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol.Apply a small amount of the alcohol to the tip of the swab and gently rub it back and forth until the lense looks bright and shines. Use the other end of the swab to dry excess moisture from the lense. Also check the transport and see if it needs to have dust and debris from the tracks or gears removed. Use the same process with cotton swabs a small amounts of alcohol to clean it up. Once clean try playing a dvd. It should work fine. If not you may have another problem with the lense or motor. You can call Phillips customer support at this telephone number. 1-888-744-5477 they will be able to help you with getting service for you dvd player. Philips DCP750/37 shows "wrong region"
Australian players are designed only to play Region 4 discs. United States discs are Region 1. It is illegal to change the Region code on a DVD player, so I can't tell you how to do it (ironically, it is the most frequently asked question about dvd players on Fixya.com - global world), but there are videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it - I would just enter "philips region code dvd" as your seacrh term. You won't find that exact model, but one of the codes in the video should work. Note that you will only be able to change the region code three times on a Philips - after that you will be locked out. So change it to Region 1 once, and never change it again.
