Could be either the power supply, the power supply connector plug on the motherboard, or a defective/loose stick of RAM. Is the connector on the computer wiggly? If not, can you get access to a multimeter, so you can check the output voltage of the power supply?

Sounds like Maxim 1987 chip needs resoldering onto mother board. There's many entries on Google that tell you how to do it, but it's a hard fix for a non expert solderer. Pressing down on the right hand side of the keyboard as you switch on will often allow the laptop to start up (temporarily). GOOD LUCK!

In regards to getting the "irql_not_less_or_equal" BSOD this can be related to several things. You could be having a driver problem or a hardware related problem. a. Reboot your Compaq Laptop, You have to press F10 key when there is HP logo appears, press it until recovery screen.
b. When recovery screen appears, Choose “Next” and You may have to select “Yes” to non-destruction recovery
c. If you want to desctructive recovery, you may select advance and select “Yes”.
d. If your recovery finished, your laptop will reboot automatically and you’ll get fresh Operating system in your laptop.

You probeply doesnt have the origional Charger if so you have to buy Compaq charger becaus it come in 3 lines (2 for Power and 1 for Data) that will tell the bettery to charge.
If you have the origional charger then you have to replace your buttery.
the buttery may damaged if you charge it for long time continuously... or if its too old.

The beeping is being caused by the stuck key.You need to clean the keyboard.the keys can be popped off and dirt removed with a q-tip.wash keys with warm water after removal dry and replace.RICHARDM69

Now a chineese had found out what is wrong. You have to resold a part on backside of the motherbord - Google on NC6000 MAX1987 and you will find a solosion.

Is is probably too old to take Win 10. Also, USB support normally starts once Windows is loaded. During Boot up, it looking for a hard drive or Bootable CD Media. Windows 7 should be the OS. If you go to safe mode, it should complete booting and then you can list the errors but I suspect there is a driver error. Maybe the wrong version in there.
