Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FS100 27" TV - Page 9 Questions & Answers
TV suddenly doesn't respond to Sony remote & power button on Satellite remote.
I am having the same problem with the "initial setup" screen flashing repeatedly/ intermittently. It's not a problem with the remote. In the research I have done online, it seems as though this is a common/known problem with the Wegas that will require a service visit. Apparently the problem is a defective receiver chip. The best thread I found is at: http://www.agoraquest.com/viewtopic.php?topic=15393&forum=34&start=0&select_page_number=1
I've seen some speculation that it is caused by windex or cleaning fluid dripping down when the screen is cleaned and corroding one of the internal components. That's not applicable in my case, since I always just clean the screen with a microfiber dusting cloth.
So, I guess I will be calling a repairman and spending $$$ to fix as it is now flashing up so often as to be unwatchable. Ridiculous, I think, given that my TV is only 3 years old!!

Sony WEGA Fails to Turn On Stand-by Timer Flashes 7 Times
Follow the instructions from the image provide and see if that works, if it does not work; you have a hardware failure in your TV. The hardware failure could be the HOT or flyback transformer.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Lost remote reset chanels
the great thing about sony is you dont need the remote to do menu functions. there is a flip down panel in the front that has the menu, cursers, and select buttons. just select the tab you need in the menu (channels) select the type of input (cable :on/off) then auto program. be sure to have the VCR off so not to program the channel 3 only.

Sony TV cover removal
I always thought that the arrows on Sony equipment were to indicate the fixing screws. It turned out that the two arrows at the top of the case (see my query) were NOT fixing screws but clips. Having removed the 5 marked screws and then manouvring the cover, it eventually clicked off the clips.
After wiggling all the boards around, the TV then worked again, but it took about 2 hours to get the cover back on, as there were so many things to line up, and as one side got into position, the other side popped out again.
If anyone can supply the meanings of the flashing light codes for this set, I would be grateful in case the fault happens again.
The TV is a Sony KV-29X1U (this website would not let me type this in to the right box, it said it was not a valid product).

Sony wega 27 inch
I posted originally about a year and a half ago about this very same problem. It is a known defect with the WEGAs that Sony refuses to do anything about. Here's the
thread with my experience - the upshot is, try doing a "hard reboot" by unplugging it and leaving it unplugged overnight. That worked for me for about 18 months, but no longer...I'm replacing my 5 year old WEGA today (NOT with a Sony).

Sony Trinitron - Picture Disappears
Hi, IK circuit is engaging which basically means the picture tube is getting tired, the only "fix" is temporary (may get another year out of it). You have to increase the "screen control clockwise".
Remove back of set, follow large black or red wire attatched to picture tube down to the flyback transformer, mounted on flyback are two black controls, one is focus (leave it alone) the other is "screen", adjust it clockwise approx. 1/4 inch, remember that this is a high voltage circuit so use one hand in the set the other hand out of the set at all times, any questions ? e-mail me back, good luck, BMW Rider

Four flashing red lights then one green - no picture
Solution
The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
- Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
- Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
-
Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps,
service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
