I'm not sure my solution can help you or not.
I've got this message too but after I formated H10 by Windows.

First backup all files by window explorer.
Open iriver plus and go to > Option > Portable Device Initialization.
This function will delete all data, Please sure that you already backup all of your data from H10.
After initialize process finished, it will ask you to disconnect and connect it agian.
------ Steps below, I can't explain it clearly. May be you will not have the same results as me. I hope it can rise you some ideas how it comes.

I followed that instruction but after I disconnected it again and turned on, expected that msg will disappear, IT's NOT! a bit freak out.
Ok claim down,
I tried to turn it off but I can't then I pushed its battery out and put it back and turned on, that msg showed up again.
Then I connected H10 to Iriver plus again and it upgrades firmware automatically.

At the end after I disconnected and turn on my H10 it works perfectly.

I'm not a native English so my language could make you confused, any questions you can contact me. :)

you can try fomatting it.to do so plug it and open my computer.go to the drive of the mp3 and right click it.in the sub menu click format(to foramt it you have to be administrator)(also be sure backup all of your music,videos,pictures,and anything that you want to save.)

Deleting files? The PC jukebox should work, but if not, use the UMS mode.

Syncing problems. Most likely a PC setup problem.
-An incompatible version of WMP10. If your using WMP11 beta, you're screwed.
-Windows Updates
-Windows Media Format Runtime
-DRM Folder(a hidden folder) Control panel>Folders>Show hidden folders.
Reinstall the DRM folder.
1. Delete the DRM folder C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersDRM
2. Go to Microsoft
and click upgrade. DRM will be reinstalled and upgraded.

I've had my player for a long time with no problems.
I did have to setup my PC for PlaysForSure *To Go*, but that is not iRiver specific.

go to my computer and open the C drive /create a new folder my music (rename it) ...ok now plug up iriver to pc...again go to start/my computer/ see the iriver drive open it...now you should see all the files on the iriver also...place both window side by side (or top & bottom) and click & drag (or copy & paste) from both iriver and pc...now you can save and copy from either one..........

It may have a infection with a virus. If not then visit the manufacturer's website and try updating the firmware. Ehtesham.

Will you please clarify what what exactly you are saying ? For example you are trying to make a bootable UVSB drive and System Files are missing ?

If you want to delete recorded song, the easy way is you can plug your hard disk to your computer then after your hard disk detected you can delete now your recorded music..

Two options and either way you can use drag and drop to add music: I believe Rockbox works with macs - also there is a version of easy H10 for mac.

If you keep the orignal firmware, easy h10 will build the database for you.

reset the small hole on top pretty much right in the middle. Use a toothpick, you don't have to press hard

This is probably because of the file type. I think that most mp3 players like AVI files. The thing to do would be to download a converter - many are free on the net. I would love to look for you, but I am really busy :(

I got this from another post:

1) plugged in H10 to pc that didn't have any iriver software on it
a) I've read if you press the "o" button on the iRiver H10 when connecting it will just connect as a usb mass storage device
2) the H10 now appears as a mass storage device
3) right click on the drive, and select format ( I choose quick format)
4) install the iRiverFirmware updater from http://iriveramerica.com/support/mtpupdate/
5) when you run the updater, it found the H10, then asked if the device was from USA or Europe, mine was from Europe
6) It stated that the iRiver firmware was v0.0, and would install v2.51 (I've seen v2.53 available on the european iriver website but could not download it).
7) proceed with installing the updated firmware
8) on the last screen it says, unplug to complete firmware update - NOTE press Finish first before unplugging
9) switching on the iRiver it 'rebooted' a few times and then when the menu appeared, I connected to the pc and just dropped some mp3 files into the music directory and all was okay.

was your player set to ums mode before running updater? to put it in ums mode you have to reset player by removing battery then reinstall battery then connect it to your computer turn on player and at the same time hold the button down with the o on it then run the updatera program again
