go to control panel, under device manager uninstall imaging device (scanner) and click scan for hardware changes, if found new hardware occurred click next and choose no, not this time tab / choose install from the list specific location option tab / choose don't search i will choose the driver to install / click show compatible hardware tabs and select scanner type appeared.

I have windows office but no disk for the artec 48u flatbed scanner is there a free download driver i could use to get it to work?

There are no drivers under W7 for your unit .
If you have the XP install disc , you could install a virtual version of XP on your HDD .
You could also partition your Hdd to install W XP on the new one .
Otherwise , there is no other solution than buying a new device .

If you are under W7 , there is no more driver available and the only way to get your device running would be to install a virtual version of W XP on your HDD , if you don't want to buy a new scanner .

There are no more drivers for this scanner under Windows Seven .
If you have Win XP install disc , you can install a virtual version of XP on your existing HDD with WMware Player , for instance . It's free and works fine and is the only way to get your device running if you don' t want to by a new one .

Hello sramnesia

Insert your driver cd and open the cd with my computer.

You should be able to see a setup.exe file. Right click on the file and select properties. Then , under the compatibility tab , select the check box (run this program in compatibility mode) and select windows XP sp2.



After doing this press okay and run the setup file. It should be able to install. If it does not , let me know and we can look into some other options.
