SOURCE: LED Indicator Problems & Flasher Relay?

What you need is a Badlands load equalizer. They are available from Zodiac, Custon Chrome or MCS dealers. The led indicators do not draw sufficient current to activate the relay properly and the load equalizer corrects this.

SOURCE: Hi I have replaced all 4 indicators on my dr650es

I had same issue, replaced different flasher to no avail. Reconnected with common earth loop and still no joy. Then I realised I still had an incandescent globe in the dash. I disconnected this and indicaters then worked fine. I reverted back to the original type blinkers after a while, as the mini led's were hardly ever seen clearly it seemed. For safety sake I run smaller stock shaped incandescant lights again. They are very bright.
Cheers,
Chrisko.

I am not a electronic wizz but i believe the led's will light up but do not have enough resistance to cause the internal breakers to work.
I found this.
The post that had the link said that it fixes fast blink and no blink conditions. http://www.greggscustoms.com/instruc...istor_Inst.pdf

Honda cbr indicators all flashing

Hi, led bulbs have much lower power consumption than common bulbs. Usualy when you change for this type of bulbs you also need an apropriate flasher wich you did, but question the suplier about it. another solution is to instar a resistance just before the bulb in order to increase ohms ans all be normal again.
good luck

Hi now knowing what the bike is, simply remove the relay bridge the 2wires and using the switch select left or right it wont flash but it will elimenate the relay if the indicators light as selected the circuit is working correctly andt the relay is faulty, have you tried disconecting the rear indicators, and check if the front ones opperate as normal left when selected and right when selected obviously they wont flash but this will elimenate any short circuit in the rear wireing, do you have a multimeter? Disconect all the indicators, and the switch and flasher relay, with the ignition turned off check for continuaty between the live feed from the front left indicator and the rear right indicator, this will elimenate a short circuit in the live wires you should have no
continuaty then check its not going to earth, check between front indicators live, and rear earths you should have no connection reconnect the relay and do the same test

Hi, led will only light if they are wired in the correct order, earth to earth and live to live, you have replaced the switch to no avail, the only thing left is the flasher relay, this type of indicator must be fitted with a relay suitable for led indicators
The original relay would not be suitable causing problems as you have described, it may be you have the correct relay, led aftermarket relays are not so reliable as original equiptment as used with standard indicators, and sometimes burn out as they are solid state an obviouse burning to the silicone backing is a give away to its condition, if it shows signs of burning or any other damage replace it as so if you still have the original one fitted, lastly you dont say which model your bike is, on some suzuki motorcycles the relay is not just. A flasher relay it has multi functions and correct wireing of the relay is not so easy, unfortunatly suzuki is the only manufactor that specific led flasher relays are not listed for and a universal 1 must be used with the above difficulties

Led indicators honda xlr 125 "NOT FLASHIN AT RIGHT SPEED "

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The reason that the flashing speed of LED indicators are faster/different from the standard bulbs is because the original flasher were designed for the current flow of bulb types. A LED type indicator offers very low resistance and consumer very little current hence the original flasher fails to operated correctly.

Your idea of changing the flasher relay is correct. Electronic/LED flashers are available here, here and/or here.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

LED Indicator Problems & Flasher Relay?

Modern Ducatis (and cars) don't have a conventional flasher. The blink rate is controlled by the dash cpu. The blink rate change is used to indicate that a bulb is out (by sensing low resistance). Using a resistor will fool the cpu into blinking correctly.

LED Indicators

or can I disconnect OEM indicators and connect one up to see if it works ok. Basically I dont want to rewire the bike for the indicators not to work!! just installed my LEDs a couple months back. All I did was to change the flasher relay that you can buy at local auto store for less than $10 bucks. and add resistors inline that are 8ohm 25watt. You can get the resistors from radio shack. i only needed to install the resistor on the front indicators. I didn't do them all at the same time. So, the rears worked fine with just the flasher relay for me but depends on your LEDs. Be safe and just get the resistors and relay and all will work just fine. And you don't need to rewire your bike. ....The problem is that the LEDS do not pull enough power to trip the relay to flash and the resistors correct that. And do them all at once..,,,
