Engine oil - 3 qts
Primary oil - 34-42 oz.
transmission - 20-24 ounces.

The engine oil and the transmission oil both have dipsticks. Maintain the oil levels according to the dipstick indications. Each dipstick has two marks. The top mark represents "FULL HOT" while the lower mark represents "FULL COLD" . Check the engine oil with the bike on the side stand. Check the transmission oil with the bike standing straight up.

On the primary, check or add oil with the bike standing straight up. Do not overfill. The oil level should be no higher than the lowest edge of the clutch spring. If you put too much oil in the primary, the clutch will drag making it impossible to find neutral with the engine running.

Good Luck

Just need to know the specs for fluids (oil & gear) on my 02' Dyna FXD

Use Formula Plus or SYN3 in trans and primary and engine. Or HD 360 20W50 in engine. Try to stick to same oil brand all the time in engine.

Oil drips form primary case on 05 dyna low rider

Very little, if any, unless the trans was over filled, then the oil may come out of the breather hose. Did you check the shift shaft seal when you had the primary off?

Oil has gotten to my stater and has ran out of the stater plug, How can I fix it

If it is just leaking a little, remove the primary cover. Push the stator plug into the primary housing. Clean the plug and hole it goes into with brake cleaner. Apply black silicone to the outside of the stator plug and push back into the hole. Replace the primary cover, and after the silicone is dry, refill the primary. If oil is leaking alot, and the bike is a Twin Cam, check to make sure vent hose on the trans top cover isn't plugged. Twin Cam primaries vent through the trans and if the vent hose is plugged, oil will be under pressure in the primary and force itself out around the stator plug.

How many oil drain plugs on a 2001 FXD and what other fluids should be changed when doing an oil change?

I'm not a Twin Cam mechanic but I think there are two oil drains on the bottom of the transmission. The oil tank for your bike is on the bottom of the transmission. It looks like there is a drain on the bottom of the pan and one on the front. The oil should be changed every 3000 miles if you're using petroleum based oil. Synthetic oil can go a bit longer. The primary oil and transmission oil should be changed every 5000 miles or so. The primary drains from a pipe plug underneath the primary back near the rear of gearcase. The transmission drains from a plug underneath.

Just need to know the specs for fluids (oil & gear) on my 02' Dyna FXD

On the '02 bikes, the engine, primary, and transmission came with Harley-Davidson SYN3 synthetic oil in all three areas. Three quarts of engine oil, 32-36 ounces in the primary, and 20-24 ounces in the transmission.

The SYN3 oil is a synthetic 20-50 weight oil with a "C" rating on it. Check the API code. It will say something like SJ-CG. The "Cx" is what you're looking for as this tells you that it has the high pressure additives in the oil for use in diesel engines. Harley has always recommended using "C" rated oils in their engines.
