Your turn signal lights and brake lights are the same lights . Question : do the front parking lights work ? The front and rear running lights or parking lights are all on the same circuit and fuse . If the front lights work , and the rear lights don't , make sure the bulbs are good first . If OK , I would suspect the problem is either a bad ground in the rear taillight wiring harness or a bad connection in the rear taillight connector Itself .

When I turn on the head lights, there are no red lights lit on the rear of the vehicle. If I step on the brake, the left and right brake lights come on. The center one does not. If I turn on the turn signal, I get the associated amber light in the back (no red light). I was trying to find a wiring schematic but was not successful. Ideas??? Thanks for the reply.

The parking lights do not work either.

visit http://www.autozone.com and enter your vehicle info. Then select repair guides and then wiring diagrams. I just checked to be sure..Your tail light wiring diagram is there. Free to print and download.

The tail fuse is blown again. I looked for the tail relay. I could not find it. Any ideas for location?

If the fuse is blown, there is a short in the parking/tail light wiring somewhere. If you can get the lights to work with a new fuse, then while the lights are on, try a wire jiggle test by jiggling the wire harness at each light to see if you can make the fuse blow. Whe it does, you have located the area you must look closley at to find the shorted wire. If the fuse blows as soon as you turn the headlight switch on, it will be harder to locate. The first thing that must be done is to isolate the short to either the front of the car or the rear of the car by locating and disconnecting the rear tail light connector and seeing if the fuse still blows...If it does, the short is in the front lights. If it doesn't blow, the short is in the rear lights. The connector should be behind the drivers kick panel. You will need to look up the connector itself in a service manual or in a wiring diagram with connector locations related to the tail light/parking lamp circuit.

How do I find a manual that is that detailed? I was going to try disconnecting the tail relay. I fund that on line as a possible problem. I am going purchase a box of fuses and try disconnecting all the lights on this circuit. I wish I knew where the connector is that you mentioned. I did not find it yet. That would definitely help with the troubkeshooting. Yes - the fuse blows when I turn on the lights. Any advice on finding the connector you referenced? Thank you for your patience and guidance.

DID YOU HAVE A AFTERMARKET RADIO INSTALLED IN THE VIBE WHE YOU WERE HAVING THIS PROBLEM?

  • Jason
    Jason Oct 01, 2018

This was my problem! I had an exposed ground wire in my aftermarket stereo.
I also noticed that my buzzer was not on when leaving headlights on after shutting the car off. but this fixed that also!

What was the fix? I removed the radio. What is burned or shorted? The rear lights still do not work. Harold

2003 Pontiac Vibe no tail lights, brake lights and turn signals work just fine. The dimmer switch does not dim the dash lights but does work the dome just fineand the lights for the Heat/AC are off.

The tail lights work off the headlight switch, and there is a fuse for the tail lights. Make sure the fuse is good, first, a 15 amp (blue) fuse in the instrument panel fuse block. Then, you might have a bad headlight switch.
So you DO have dash lights, they just don't dim from the dimmer switch? In the wiring diagram, there is a green wire from a "tail light relay" (in the "Junction Block-Right Instrument Panel") that carries power to all the exterior lamps, as well as having a splice to the Instrument Panel Cluster (illum. bulbs), and to the lamp dimmer, and to the radio bulb.
To do any further testing, you would need a voltmeter or a test light, so you could chase down this power loss. Good luck.

Turn signal not working

TAIL LIGHT NOT WORKING

It can be faulty tail light bulb or its issue with tail light control switch or its wiring's are short.

Check the voltage at fuse slot of tail light.Do you receive 12 volt there. If not, then it says tail light switch is not receiving power supply.

2003 pontiac vibe- #10 fuse blows---check engine light on, runs rough.....windows, speed gauge, dash board lights, a/c control vent/blower and turn signals do not work code that comes up is speed sen

Well, if a mechanic on-site can't find the problem, you probably need a technician trained on Pontiac or GM systems.
Automotive systems today are so complicated and diverse, I couldn't even hazard a guess, and I've worked on cars and trucks for over 30 years. Us shadetree mechanics have just about seen our waterloo. Sorry, Denise.

My license plate went out on my 2003 Pontiac Vibe. I changed the bulb but it still doesn't work. Could it be a fuse?

A fuse would put the tail lights out as well. Probably a fault in the wiring to the light.
