Check compression,check spark,check fuel in carby, if ok may have stale fuel blocking pilot and main jets or needle worn out. compression test shoul be better than 120 lb or will be too low to start

Start by checking the fuses... If they're fine the start tracing the wiring from the fan. Look for any burn marks, pinches, etc... If in doubt I'd recommend taking it to a professional. It's really easy to mess things up if your not sure what your doing
Got a 2001 400 big bear has good spark but won't fire off. I was told by a friend that it might have jumped time how would I go about timing this model
I have an 01, and it started doing this. I don't remember the circumstances. It's just dirty in the carb I think.
1) Check for water in the gas. 2) Turn off the petcock and drain the carb. turn it back on. 3) Try it. 4) Start it with the choke on and put your hand over the air filter hole. Will cause some back flow. 5) Try again.
Worked for me. Might be dirtier on yours, or have mud in it or something.
