finally sorted when I replaced both plugs. I've never come across one failing instantly before in 30 years of motorcycling (maybe that's because I ride old bm's!)

Are you adding oil to the gas? (32/1 = 4 ounces per gallon)
Do you still have spark? Install a new stock spark plug.
Clean the carb, but follow these steps >

Remove the carburetor from the engine.
Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the two screws on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
< < READ CLOSELY > >
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. Let the bike warm up then set the idle speed. This process should get you back on the road.

SOURCE: need to see the carburetor diagram for a 2000- wont start

I could not locate a diagram of your machine's carburetor. I can tell you, for certain, that the carb does have a rubber drain tube that goes from the bottom of the float bowl and vents to atmosphere beneath the vehicle.
There are three required ingredients required for combustion: fuel, compression, and a spark (at the right time). Try to find out which of these are missing. Loosen the drain screw on the float bowl. Is fuel present? Check the compression - you've got to see at least 140 psi for anything to happen. Pull the spark plug and crank the engine. Is there a spark?
If it has sat for an extended period of time (more than just a couple of months) then the carburetor will be plugged with fuel varnish. It is very easy to think you've got everything cleaned, when the jets are still plugged up. I would take the carb apart and remove the jets. Hold them up to a light source and look through each one. If you can't see through them, there's the problem.

I have trouble with my all wheel drive it's an 02 sportsman 700 twin what should I start looking for

I first check both spark plug and coil.. Pull spark plug out and visually inspect for any dirt touching both electrodes... Next, Plug the spark plug back into the spark plug lead and earth it to the motor(make sure the spark plug is touching metal)then try turning the motor to see if the spark plug is sparking...
Also the link below is a short YouTube video showing the right colour spark and I never thought about it but it should spark over the top of the centre electrode,
How to check for Spark Plug Fire in any engine
If it does spark then it's a fuel problem. Check the needle and seat in your carby, You need to pull your carby off and unscrew the bottom half from the top, 1st sign of a needle stuck inside the seat
is a dry carby There you'll find the float, push the float up and down and see if the needle above
the float slides up and down from the seat, If the needle stays up then it's stuck and NOT letting
the fuel into the carby, Just pull it down with your fingers to loosen it up..I hope this helps.... CHEERS..

Why my won't my 2008 Yamaha Rhino 700 start. Has good battery. Cranks over. No codes. Good spark.

If you are only getting 65lbs of compression, remedying that would be my next move!! .. I have seen some run as low as 85lbs..run very poor too.. but never at 65lbs. You should let the engine turn over for about 5 seconds to get compression level.

90cc quad chinese wont fire. New battery cleaned the carb the 2 jets and the little one that is on the float. Compression is fine and spark is fine. It cranks and cranks but will not start. So its getting...

just for fun, while you're cranking it put your hand over the intake of the carb completely covering it and see if your hand gets wet with gas. this might even start it too.

2006 Suzuki King Quad sputters at high RPMs like it's breaking down. It starts good and seems to run alright except in high RPMs.

Make sure you have the CORRECT spark plug... use what the owners manual says... NGK..

. A non - resistor plug will make some motors sputter at high rpm's ...if the quad calls for a "R" plug..use one!
