Chevy 1500: turn the key and all I hear is tick tic-tic-tic-tic

Spray PB Blaster or WD-40 into key hole, wiggle steering wheel back and forth while wiggling key back and forth and in and out. Good luck.

Try to turn the crank manually with the harmonic balancer bolt and if the crank doesnot turn then your engine is seased

If the battery is old, it may no longer have the cranking amp it needs to turn the starter. If you have a multi-meter. Check the load on the battery when you get someone to start the engine, if the meter reads that it drops below 10.5 volts. You need a new battery, if the readings are good, then you'll need a new starter.

Good luck and keep us posted, a set of good jumper cables and another car may help get the engine started for now by boosting the battery.

i always use 91octane and frequent oil changes..but still the tic tic tic.. finaly my mechanic used lucas motor oil treatment and today is the first day of engine silence.. we shall see for how long.. but seems like a cheap fix... try it.

worn hydralic lifters are ticking most likely

fuel pump is where I would look first, turn key on and see if you hear the fuel pump come on

it could be ur fan its probly bumbing somthing near it my toyota does the same thing

can you hear the fuel pump buzz when you first hit the key /make sure it's getting fuel also try checking the timing belts //might of slipped..
