My 03 Saab 9-3 won't start. Bought a new battery, stater/alternator got tested good. 2 weeks ago car was taken to a service center, plugs got changed and this morning after a heaving snow my car won't start stil, what to do?
It sounds like a soleniod ,battery or stuck or broken stater. Try jumping it with a charger or jumper cables after checking battery for corrosion and lose connections. Then progress to the solenoid ,then to the stater . After that it's more than likely a wiring issue.
*if your battery wont charge,
1) you might check for an "in-line" fuse from the "stater" to the starter cyliniod . could be blown.
2) or the "stater" , which is located under the fly wheel is gone bad.. it will need replaced..(this isnt cheep)
3) make sure all your battery and cyliniod wire leads are good and tight.
p.s. IM TYPING "S.T.A.T.E.R." not starter..the charging mechanism is called a "stater" not alternater...f.y.i.
i had a 72 blazer that that happened to. my stater was was right next to the headers and would heat it up as i drove. it would take about 20-40 min to cool depending on time driven. i bought a heat shield for the starter ($30) and problem solved. may work 4 u.
