Are you saying that yours is broken, or that you want a breakdown of how it works? Most issues can be resolved by resetting the error codes in the ECM. Here is a site where you can get a tool to do this yourself:http://www.gs911usa.com/

Works intermintly at speed rear seems to not work at all. digonstic test says servo malfunction 2000 plus labor ouch

Yep, that is about average for replacement of the IABS control module.

There are a few options:

If you don't mind a bike with no ABS, a few have removed the ABS module and purchased new brake lines etc to have conventional brakes. This would be a DIY project as no BMW dealer will likely touch it.

Another option is buying a used IABS module from a wrecked bike. Try beemerboneyard as one source for used parts.

Last thing for the really fearless, is to take apart the IABS module and try and repair it. Sometimes the pressure sensors stop working in the module. There was a guy on Adventure Rider that did this and it worked for him.

Unfortunately, no easy solutions for you.

Good Luck!

I have a 2002 sierra gmc 4 x 4, when I come to a rolling stop the break peddle gets hard and you hear the abs working but it not stop you feel the pulse without the break or abs light coming on. I can...

This is a common problem with these trucks. You will need to set-up an appointment with the service Dept. at the dealership. There is an update for the ABS system. The function of this update is to reduce the sensitivity. When you get down to five MPH (with the brake applied) the ABS turns on (no light on dash) and you get the sensation of Sliding (braking is reduced).
This is assuming that the tires are the same size and pressure, And that there are no defects in the wheel speed sensors. Good-luck and please let me know what you decided to do and how it went.

Hi, I have a bmw R1150R which have ABS problem. The hazard lamp continusliy on and the ABS lamp is blinking. What is the cause ? how can I solve it by myself? Thanks, Nir

could be a numerous amount of problems. take it to a dealer for a diagnostic test on their gt-1 tester or buy this..http://www.hexcode.co.za/
for around 350.00

ensure that the hazard switch is not on (hazard light)
anything from loss in pressure, low fluid level to bad servo can cause ABS light to stay on. normally it will go out as soon as you start driving. the ABS modulator is under the tank on that model.

Rear Brakes on my 2004 BMW R1150R motorcycle seems like sticking causing rotor to get hot fairly quickly.

Hi,
You need to remove the caliper.
Then remove the plungers, you will find that these have a type of gunge on them. Polish the plungers, clean the caliper and replace. Bleed the brakes with NEW brake fluid (the good stuff).

Cheers

Jon
NB. If the plungers are pitted then they should be replaced.
