It wont start. sometimes it will bump start

My rm250 suzuki 2003 it wont kick start. sometimes it will bump start and stay going and other times it spluters and wont go, what could be the problem

When's the last time top end was rebuilt? could be piston rings are worn. also, make sure your power valve is clean.

I have a 1991 RM250 and when i try to kick start it it will not start up, however, if i hold the throttle slightly open (slightly revved) i get a more deeper sounding noise when i kick it and then the bike...
Try this:
Clean and gap the spark plugs. Clean the air filter,and then run some carb cleaner through the carb.

sounds like maybe valves were shimmed too tight,check service manual for clearances...better a little loose than too tight,can cause alot of damage to cam & head,be careful!!
