Sounds like you have a fuel delivery problem. First check to see if there is a inline filter from the fuel tank to the carburators that is partially plugged. If not, you will have to remove the fuel valve from the fuel tank and clean the screens on the fuel pick-up tubes. The only other thing that would cause a fuel delivery problem would be the vacuum line from the carburators to the fuel valve has a split causing insufficient vacuum to open the fuel valve.

Need radator for kawasaki vn 1500 classic tourer 2001 is the driffter the same radator as the vn 1500 classic plz hellllllllllllp

TO ALL VN1500 OWNERS....This once happen to me,
I went to the garage to start the bike "Nothing ""The first thing is the lights are bright but no turning over,Next you think the solenoid is kaput but the answer was very simple and the fix takes 30 seconds..
Do not take the bike to bits looking for other problems and look at the clutch leaver and you will see some wires going into a plastic shroud going into the switch in the clutch leaver, Make sure this has not popped out if its connection as it some times may do after a few years due to constant turning on the handlebars,
When this is not connected you will have a bike that will not fire up but comes alive and you will hear a clicking noise but this is from the engine carb area and every function of the bike will work but it will not turn over, Worth looking at and saves sixteen quid for a starter unit you never needed.

The engine will run for 30 mins then cut out.

How do you temporarily resolve the problem Pete?
Do you re-charge the battery or ???
Does it still crank the engine over with the electric start while in the 'failed' state after the 30 min run, just not fire the engine?
Are you doing the spark test with the electric start or kick start?

If charging the battery makes it run OK again for the the 30 mins, that is indicator the charging system is bad and you are running in 'total loss' mode of the battery. When it becomes discharged there is insufficient power to run the bike. You may still have enough power to pass a spark test if tested briefly.

If you can measure the voltage across the battery when the bike is running, that would identify whether the charging system is good - you should get at least 13.5V at the battery.
If not, you may have a stator and/or regulator/rectifier failure.

Oil change

Under the bike below the front radiator you shoud see what I think is a 13mm nut place a drain pan below the bike about even with the kickstand and unscrew the bolt and away you go draining the oil. let it run out till nothing comes out and replace the bolt and don't over tighten it but snug it well. then right below the radiator is your oil filter it should be tight but also able to turn it by hand, remove it and replace it. Then on your foot side where your gear shifter is,is where you replace the oil, the sight glass is in the other side below the floor board, there is a high and low mark ....be sure not to over fill dead center should be about right. Run the engine in Nuetral for a minute or so and shut it down and check the level and add accordingly.

I am about to buy a 1998 vn 1500 kawasaki -

NO theres not. i own this very same bike i have the 99 1500 drifter #0791 last 4 of vin. the only quirk with this bike is the clutch springs. they were weak but if this bike has over around 20k miles you should be good because someone else probally has replaced them, if not its a simple quick repair. but if you have to replace them just upgrade to the mean streak spring they will fit, they are a different part number but they will fit. its an hour and a half job to replace them. i have done about 10 of these in the last few years for customers. if any further questions contact me on here and we can go over this on the phone. i am a kawasaki vulcan nut. i own 2 of these bikes one being the 1500 drifter the other a 02 800 drifter.
