How to adjust a throttle cable cable on a 2005 Buick rendezvous

This cable cannot be adjusted. If it is loose on the throttle body, the gas pedal may not be returning to the correct position when pressure on the pedal is released. Idle is completely controlled by the engine computer based on settings from various sensors, and will have a problem if the throttle body internals or the idle air control (IAC) pintle is fouled, or if this control is not performing correctly.

2002 ford taurus gas pedal goes to the floor and getting no acceleration. the pedal itself is loose and won't retract into the up position.

The spring or wire that connects your pedal to the throttle body may broken or damaged. Check under your hood and look at the throttle body (it's the carburetor looking thing). There should be a steel wire connected to it coming from the back of the engine bay. It should connect on the side where you'll see a few springs. If nothing looks broken there, turn the part of the throttle body connected to the spring and wire. If it revs up when you move it, then the cable could be broken somewhere between there and the gas pedal.

Alternatively, the linkage on the pedal could have been disconnected some how. Check behind and above the gas pedal to see if eveything is connected properly.

1995 oldsmobile achieva 2,3L how do I adjust the throttle cable.

You can't make any adjustments, the idle speed is controlled automatically by a computer called the ECM.

Need to replace a 1991 honda civic throttle cable?

These are fairly easy and straight forward to replace.
  • Start by removing the cable from the accelerator pedal. Climb under the dash and locate the cable at the back side of the pedal near the top. The cable is similar to the brake cable on a bike that has a knob at each end of it to retain it on the component. You can remove this by turning the cable so that it can slide out the notch on the side of the bracket and slide the knob out.
  • Next remove the cable from the throttle body. This is done very similar to what you just did under the dash. Turn the round bracket attached to the throttle body that the cable is wrapped around until the cable is loose and you can slide it through the notch in the side and slide the knob out.
  • Remove the cable from the mounting bracket. There are two 10mm nuts that lock it into place on the bracket.
  • Trace the throttle cable back to the firewall and remove it from all of the retaining clips.
  • Pull the cable through the firewall. The rubber grommet will come with it.
  • Install the new cable in the reverse order.
  • When you are re-installing the two 10mm nuts near the throttle body, these nuts are used for the adjustments. When the cable is installed on the throttle body, it doesn't need to be really tight, in fact there should be a slight amount of play in the cable. You can use the two 10mm nuts to adjust this.

Good Luck!

Loose gas pedal, i need to push accelerator farther in

the gas pedal is connected by a cable that goes to the throttle body or carburetor on the engine. there should be a nut that holds the cable end in place where the steel cable comes out of the housing near the throttle body. it sounds like this may be loose or stripped out. you may need to replace the entire throttle cable.

99 Plymouth Voyager takes long time to idle down after releasing gas pedal. Checked for loose vacum hoses but didn't find any. Throttle Cable is free and not sticking. Anything else I can check.

Have you taken time to remove air intake hose & spray clean throttle plate & intake of throttle body, using throttle body spray cleaner? Could be idle speed motor acting up , but lets try this first.
