The gas pedal is connected by a cable that goes to the throttle body or carburetor on the engine. there should be a nut that holds the cable end in place where the steel cable comes out of the housing near the throttle body. it sounds like this may be loose or stripped out. you may need to replace the entire throttle cable.

2001 Buick Lesabre starts normal everyday. Car sits three days or more will not start unless you put the accelerator pedal down at least twice

put the accelerator pedal down at least twice ? While cranking the engine ? key on ? what ? Your vehicle has electronic fuel injection ,not a carburator . Pushing the gas pedal doesn't do anything The only thing if pushing the gas pedal to the foor an holding it there will put it into clear flood mode , shutting off the fuel injectors .

Emergency brake pedal stuck won't release, there is no release pull, the pedal is push down and push down again to release won't go down any farther to release! stuck on the side of the road right now

Start the vehicle, and while pushing down on the break put the vehicle in reverse and gently use accelerator to go back an inch or four. If that doesn't work continue to rock the car back and forth until the ebrake cuts loose

Accelerator cable loose at pedal and not pushing back to throttle body

The pedal should NOT PUSH that cable - it SHOULD be loose. The pedal should PULL that cable.

Throttle hesitation

Is the check engine light on, and have you checked fuel pressure with a gauge ?
The most common cause of that problem is a faulty Throttle Position Sensor but it should set a code in the computer.

I have problems with my 98 chevy k1500 pickup on the highway. Once i hit about 65 mph it wont accelerate and it backfires. also, after i come to a stop and try to accelerate up to highway speeds again,...

If it is running bad enough to be backfiring, the Check Engine light should be on. I would start with scanning the engine computer for fault codes.

Two symptoms here Keith, and I just had this, same car year and model. The pedal could either be a bit loose, check the cable and throtle. Have someone check, when the cars in neutral, they manually rev it, and watch the RPM's. They should go 3-4 as normal. If this is the case, and its not the cable or pedal, REPLACE spark plug cables and wires. Odd, but that was the fix to mine. Hope it helps.
