I will tell you this much.If you do not have a good battery,I would not ride a motorcycle two inches, because that as far as I want to push it.

make sure your cables has good contact, especially the ground
check to see if there are bulges in cables.could be corrosion under insulation.
the age of this bike make sure there no wires rub in to touching the frame.
I hope you were not smart enough to try and jump start from a car battery.
this can cause you a problem if you use a heavy gauge set of cables. It can put out to many amps, cause wiring harness to melt together.
some bikes electric wiring under frame check for abrasion.
Wheel PaPa (been OUT of the Business 20yrs.
hope this help you out

Not really familiar with Harleys, but with metric bikes somtimes a faulty kickstand switch will make a bike act exactly as you describe. Im not sure if the 93 sportster has a stand switch that prevents you from putting the bike in gear with the kickstand down... but if it does and its going bad, or the spring on the kickstand has lost its tension...sometimes you will hit a bump, the kickstand will bounce and kill the bike...

Other than that Im just not good with Harleys

Check your plugs when that happen and see if they are wet or dry. If they are wet that means that you have too much fuel and that is the problem. If they are dry then it's probably something electrical....

I have an 04 yamaha v star silverado classic cruiser with a stalling no start issue! here is what happens i recently installed new battery connections cleaned and tighten and took bike for a drive while...

It's your stator failing, these bikes are notorious for bad stators. A failing stator means the bike can't produce the electricity it needs to run, and the bike is running on the battery only. Replace the stator and make sure your battery is fully charged and you will be good to go.

Instrument Cluster needles stuck -- Electrical Problems

Needles stuck indicative of instrument cluster complete failure. Cause unknown. This is second instrument cluster that has failed on this bike, first one failed at about 3000 miles, twenty-two months ago. This "new" one died in mid May 2008. Received word from Ducati North America that they will accept the warranty claim for the toasted instrument cluster!!! Am still concerned about cause...this is second instrument cluster for this S2R800. Seems to be an issue prevalent on some of these late model Monsters. Will update more after instrument cluster gets in and replaced by Bloodworth Ducati in Nashville.
