Why wont my 2001 fxdwg wont turn over with good battery ?

so when you turn the key on it, does nothing

Check the leads to your spark plugs. These wires are cheap to change out and have a reputation for intermittent failure

You should start with the battery. Get it load tested and make sure it is good. Do not assume it is good just because it shows 12 volts on a meter. If your battery proves to be good under load then proceed to checking your wiring and connections. The cables and wires should be tight and clean. Remove the cables and make sure there is no dirt or grundge where the cable connects to the battery or on the starter end of the cable. If that desn't fix your problem repost and we can go on from there.

I'd take the plug out of the case and check voltage with a multi meter

It's simple, unplug the plug at the front of the engine and disconnect the wire that goes to the positive side of the battery. Unbolt the old one and replace it with the new one. Reconnect the plug and run the long wire to the positive side of the battery. No problem.
