SOURCE: Front fork oil capacity

Hi Lukepentcof.

its 350cc or 11.8 ounces in the Clyma book, but that's for a 1986 onwards model. you can vary the amount you use to suit your style of riding anyways. I doubt it would be that far from the mark.

Before you take it to the shop try this.Get some camera film,Cut the notched edge of it and trim the top to an angle of 45 deg..Slide this up into the fork seal and working it up and down, slide it all the way around the seal. When you get the feel of it,you can feel tiny bits of grit. This will clean the grit out 99% of the time.I always keep a piece of film in the toolbox.

Clunking sound when I hit a bump in the front end 2004 wide glide

Could be the fork oil is low, or it might need thicker oil (Harley fork oil comes in different weights).

2000 Harley Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide clunking sound front end @

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Loose neck bearings due to improper preload.
2. Fork springs are worn out or broken.
3. Fork oil lever too low.
4. Loose front fender or brake caliper.

2007 Harley Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide change the front fork oil @

Hi, Twincam49 for this scenario you will need your service manual that has all fastener torque specs -fluid capacities and a wiring diagram on the back pages, parts fiche, and owners manual if you can not find the best tool you ever bought for your Harley, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

97 fxdl, difference between narrow/wide glide componants

You need the complete front end including the wheel. The FXDWG is somewhat of an oddball in that a lot of parts fit only that bike. A lot of other parts will not fit a Wide Glide. This even applies to the exhaust system.

Measure the diameter of your upper fork tubes, they're 39 mm tubes. The Wide Glide uses 41 mm tubes. The Wide Glide also uses a 21" front wheel.
