Kohler 149 cc running as if fuel starving(lawn boy) starts well except for intermittent ?fuel starvation almost wanting to stall but then corrects itself temporarily happens every few minutes

sounds like it has water in bowl of carburetor some of these have drains screws on the bottom of the carburetors bowl . best fuel to run is marine gas. and cover the mower or store inside out of the weather. also make sure oil is full, if so .. unplug oils sensor wire as a test not a big fan of starter fluid a good flammable carb or break cleaning spray works great and has more uses. starting fluid should be used in extreme cold climates only also a spaire sparkplug should be on hand. I would say that the incorrect of use of gasket goo instead of the proper gasket has spilled into the bowl after assembly and is blocking the main jet --again

your problem is a clogged carb. clean float valve, main jet and idle circuit with a can of spray carb cleaner.

disconnect fuel hose at carb and see if gas flows.

reconnect hose and open float bowl drain valve. If no gas tap on side of float bowl with plastic end of screwdirver to free up float.

still no gas? remove float bowl and try to shoot carb cleaner into the fitting for the gas line from tank.

if gas flows now then put it all back together and it should run

if not then remove carb and clean carb passages, main jet, idle circuit.

pull the spark plug and crank it and check for spark if it has spark spray a little starting fluid in carb and it should sputter if it does the carb is gummed up the needle is stuck in the seat remove carb take the screws that hold on the fuel bowl out you will see the float wiggle it up and down slowly you will see the needle not moving slide the pin out that holds in the float you gotta tap it out with something small like a small punch or a nail spray the needle with carb cleaner only to soften the gummed up buildup and wiggle up the needle and float clean it all with carb cleaner and reassemble it should start now hope this helps

The lawnmower won t start after pulling the start up cord . changed the spark plug it still won t start

try a touch of starting fluid right into the carburator by taking the air filter off. If it then starts but wont run or stay running, the reservoir below the carb should be removed to clean at and the pinhole in the intake tube above the bowl nut. This is the most common problem with lawnmower start problems, the pinhole can be unplugged with one wire from a wire brush. Be careful with the gas, at least pinch off the gas hose with a vise grips while removing the carb bowl.. Never use a droplight around gasoline.

Wangye 50 cc scooter only starts with full throttle open but at a very low idle and wont accellarate ck.compression ok spark plug ok getting gas ok

sounds like gas jet is clogged. been sitting? use carb cleaner and clean out jet. the jet is in the carb bowl and has a stem amd needle valve and a float. when you see the float its attached with a small tab to the needle valve. up inside there is the jet a flat head screw driver to remove it. if its clogged clean it also on gas tank there may be a filter in the shut off valve. turn it off position and see if there is a screw underneath to clean filter.

Fuel will not pass through the carb

The carb is probably plugged up with 'varnish' that occurs if the gas sat in the carb too long. Try letting some carb cleaner sit in it over night. It may end up having to be pulled apart to clean it throughly. Always use 'stable' in your gas and if you don't run for extended periods, let it run all the gas out until it stops running. That way the carb is empty.

Scooter won't start

Check for spark. I am going to assume that spark is present
Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).

Drain the carburetor. There may be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the
carb and spray into the screw holes as well.

Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!
