Angles may be measured in three angles:degree, radian and gradians (grads).
tan(45 deg)=1
tan(45 radians)=1.61977
If your problems require angles to be measured in degrees, make sure that the calculator's angle unit is set to degrees.
In RUN screen press [SHIFT][MENU] (SetUp) select the angle line and press function key under the tab Deg (should be F1).

Sorry, I meant to say that angles can be measured in 3 units: degree, radian, and gradian (grad).

Why is my ti84 giving me wrong answers when I use trig functions?

Your right you should be in degree mode. However, my guess is you are somehow entering in cot wrong in your calc. Recall cot = 1/tan! In your graphing calculator enter: 35(1/tan(61) = 19.4.
Hope this helped!

This calculator is really confusing, i would like to know how to use its trig functions

Hi there,

To use the trig functions simply press the button with the trig function you want and then type in the value of the angle. If you want to add or subtract thing within the angle remember to put open and close ( ) brackets around the angle.

TI-36X won't let me take the CSC(1.5). I keep getting

No calculator can have EVERY mathematical function. Very few calculators have the secondary trig functions like cosecant because they're so simple to calculate in other ways. By definition csc(x) is equal to 1/sin(x) and you can calculate it that way. Similarly, calculate sec(x) as 1/cos(x) and cot(x) as 1/tan(x).

Wrong trig ratio

Your calculator is set in radians. Press mode key. Arrow down to 3rd line. Highlight degree and press enter. Your calculator is now in degrees, not radians. To get out of the mode screen and back to home screen, press 2nd and then mode.

Inverse Functions on Casio fx-270W PLUS don't seem to work

because cotangent, cosecant, and secant are all inverse trig functions, just type in 1 / |shift| trig function and the number if you are finding the angles. It might not be a dedicated button, but its an extra push, and it will give you the same result. *note that I put the shift press only because that is how you get the inverse tan to get an angle from a tan ratio.*

Graphing trig functions

Put the calculator in radian mode and it will graph trig functions just fine. If you don't know how to change it to radians, then go to mode and cursor over to select radians. I am assuming you know where the sine, cosine, tangent, etc. keys are.
