Firing pin not retracting far enough to allow nails forward

Paslode IM 250
Nailgun works for a while then firing pin starts to stick and does not allow nails to come forward. Gun is well cleaned and oiled and gas is well in date . This problem is only intermitent but is really annoying as you have to push pin back every time it sticks.

Yes,this is a common "mis fire" by Pasilode. I own the 16p Framer and the Angle nailer and I never get it from the Framer but I do get it seldom from Trim Gun,nothing you can do ,its just a misfire.

The pin that fires the nail sticks and won't retract after firing. You can push it back in after it fires, but that is very time consuming. tried cleaning and oiling to no avail.

please go to paslode.com and take a look at the gun's schematic. you have one of two possible problems. check the compression on the pin's piston( it should have 2 metal rings) put the piston at the top of the chamber and let it go , if it drops by itself you may need new metal rings. the other fix is to replace your reed valve( it kinda looks like a comb with four fat teeth) sitting right under your muffler

Paslode impulse cordless nail gun, doesn't pull the piston back far enough to catch the next nail, so when I fire it no nail is picked up by the firing pin. batteries are good(new), cylinder is new, any...

This is an easy fix luckily usually it means that the chamber is dirty and all you have to do is open the top front of the gun so that you can see the piston then take a q-tip and clean the area really well sometimes it requires a degreaser and then when you think that you have it clean make sure to lubricate the chamber really well with the paslode lubricant that came with the gun or they sell it right next to where you get the nails. Then the gun should work fine with no problem if this does not work then this means that the piston might be bent and that could turn into a big problem but is still fixable just harder.

Hope that this works for you

Paslode framing nailer when fired pin stays out wont retract

Check the anvil guide for damage first (ie: burrs, nicks, etc.) Then go to the chamber for the return spring. That is where your problems are.
