I've had several Vulcans, and they were never designed to be fitted with a complete fairing. Fitting a specific windscreen and engine bars is as far as any rider went with our group. Leg shields could then be attached to the engine bars is you really wanted them, usually made from weatherproof leather.
Look on plastic parts like underneath the saddle. Just as with cars, there might be a calendar dial showing the year and an arrow pointing to the month engraved on the plastic. To allow for assembly time, the year might be one later than printed on the plastic. Just keep in mind that plastic components might have been replaced through the life of the bike.
Attached is the date stamp found on the bottom plastic cover of the saddle on my Dahon bike. I bought the bike brand new in 2015 and according to the stamp the bike was assembled with the saddle of '13. So we can quite accurately say the bike is a '13+1 (2014) model.
As you sit on the bike you will find on the right hand side there is a black wheel the size of a 5p piece which is just above the crankcase. You can get your fingers in between the fairing without having to remove any plastics(which is a bit of a pain on this bike!(just forward of the oil filler cap).Once the engine is good and warm(about 5 mins) rotate it clockwise(I think) and it will increase your idle speed to just under 1200 rpm which is just about right. The "wheel" is attached to the carbs by a cable. Good luck. Ollie
These days with solid state electronics on board,I not jumpstart anything.unplug headlight, get someone to push the bike up to 5 mph, pull clutch in put in second gear pop cluch n roll start.Make sure key is on and kill switch in run position. Also, this will only work if battery has some life and at least 10v.Most all electrical systems need 10 v or better for ignition to work.If you choose to jump start with another battery make sure polarity on battery is hooked up properly and connect ground terminal first then positive on bike and then hook up other end same way.good luck....
Your carb is situated under your petrol tank, It is possible to take it off buy taking your tank off (just make sure you turn the petrol tap off first) then unbolting the air intake plastic thing (big black thing under your tank) sorry dont know what its called, then you will have your carb, just make sure you take pics of where the tubes and wires go before taking it off. Hope this helps
thanks nick
