2013 VW CC V6 (3.6) Serpentine Belt Routing

Here is the serpentine belt routing for a 2013 VW CC with a V6 3.6 liter engine:
  1. Start by locating the automatic belt tensioner on the front of the engine.
  2. Route the belt around the crankshaft pulley at the bottom of the engine.
  3. From there, route the belt around the idler pulley, which is just above the crankshaft pulley.
  4. Next, route the belt around the alternator pulley, which is located on the top left side of the engine.
  5. After the alternator, route the belt around the power steering pump pulley, which is located on the top right side of the engine.
  6. From there, route the belt around the water pump pulley, which is located just above the power steering pump.
  7. Finally, route the belt around the tensioner pulley, which should be the last pulley in the belt routing.
Double-check that the belt is properly seated on each pulley and that the routing matches the diagram on the engine or in the owner's manual before starting the engine.

How do i release the tension belt ... cant seem to find bolt being referred to in other docs

Here's the procedure on how to release and replace the tension belt of your car.

Step 1
  • Open the hood on the Volvo S-60 and find the serpentine-belt routing diagram. The diagram should be attached to the top of the fan shroud that covers the radiator. If not, draw out the exact routing method of the serpentine belt around each pulley with a pen and a piece of paper.
  • Step 2 Locate the serpentine-belt tensioner that is in the very center of the engine. The tensioner will have a square bolt head in the center of the tensioner pulley.
  • Step 3 Slide the open end of the 5/8-wrench onto the square bolt head in the center of the belt-tensioner pulley. Turn the tensioner pulley counterclockwise and slide the serpentine belt off of the tensioner pulley.
  • Step 4 Remove the serpentine belt from the other pulleys and pull the belt out of the engine compartment.
  • Step 5 Slide the new serpentine belt into the engine compartment and around the crankshaft pulley.
  • Step 6 Route the new serpentine belt around each pulley. Turn the belt-tensioner pulley counterclockwise again and slide the serpentine belt around the tensioner pulley. Release the tensioner and it will tighten the belt around the pulleys. Look over the belt to ensure that it is inside of each pulley.
  • Step 7 Crank the S-60 and look over the serpentine belt with the motor running. Let the engine run for about one minute and shut the engine off. Close the hood.

Do you have a diagram on how to install a serpentine belt on a 1994 Chrysler LeBaron?

    1994 CHRYSLER LEBARON - V6 3.0L 2972cc 181ci GAS FI N 3

Open the hood, the diagram for the serpentine belt is on the cowling.

    From DAYCO Catalog
Belt Routing Diagram (Alt., P.S., Idler & Tens.)
    9e1b1eb.jpg

From comments to other users and Lebaron Owners; for remove, starting at the alternator pulley and going clockwise around the pathof the belt, the belt drops down and forward and goes under the idlerpulley, continues forward and less steeply downward and goes around thecrankshaft pulley clockwise, rises rearward going over the top or thetensioner pulley counterclockwise, then drops down and around the powersteering pump clockwise and rises to go around the alternator pulleyclockise (which is where I started the description). To loosen thetension to remove the belt, or to give you slack to install the beltwithout having to force it over a pulley while under tension you rotatethe tensioner pulley arm around its pivot clockwise according to the'94 shop manual. It doesn't show by what means to effect this rotation, but in the earlier manual I have ('89) it shows there to be a 1/2"square hole in the tensioner arm into which you insert a breaker barwith a 1/2" square drive which gives you the temporary lever to rotatethe tensioner against its spring action. I assume there is a similar1/2" square hole on the '94 you are working with. Interestingly, between '89 and '94 the idler pulley was added, and the requiredrotation of the tension arm changed from counterclockwise to clockwiseto relieve the tension."

I think this will help you get the belt on. Good luck.

    Replacing a serpentine belt

Don't have a chart, video, or diagram available at the moment. Can offer you generic advice.

1.Somewhere in the middle of that serpentine belt, that is wrapped around all those pulleys, is an Idler tensioner Pulley. All this pulley does, is put tension on that serpentine belt. Usually located somewhere in the middle.

The Idler tensioner Pulley will be on a bracket. It will be on the end of the bracket. The bracket usually has a 1/2 inch square hole in it. This is used for a tool, that resembles a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
    -> I, use a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
The 1/2 inch breaker bar is inserted into this square hole, and the bracket is pulled to one side.
This pulls the tensioner pulley away from the serpentine belt, allowing the belt to have slack, and then the belt is slipped off of one of those pulleys. Release the pressure slowly, remove the tool. Then the serpentine belt is removed all the way.

(The Idler tensioner pulley bracket, can only be moved in one direction, to take pressure off of the serpentine belt. The direction opposite, of it putting pressure on the serpentine belt.

The spring used to put pressure is Very strong. This is also an area, where you can easily slip, cutting your knuckles, or fingers, or hand, on sharp objects. Use caution, you may want to wear a glove, or gloves!)

Then the new serpentine belt is wound around the pulleys in the correct pattern, the Idler Tensioner Pulley is once again pulled to the side, and the last of the serpentine belt is slid into place. Then you slowly release the tensioner pulley, and it puts pressure on the serpentine belt once more.

Make sure the serpentine belt is in the grooves of the pulleys, and is wound around in the correct pattern.

On the car hood inside, or on the radiator support, or perhaps on the inner fender well, or in the Owners Manual, it should show the correct pattern for installing the serpentine belt.

To replace a worn belt, locate the idler or generator pulley.

    0900823d8004ed45.jpg

Loosen the hold-down fastener for the idler or generator pulley.

    0900823d8004ed46.jpg

Pry the idler or generator pulley inward to release the belt tension and remove the belt.

    0900823d8004ed47.jpg

Match the old belt up for size with the new replacement belt.

    0900823d8004ed48.jpg

Observe the belt routing diagram in the engine compartment.

    0900823d8004ed49.jpg

Install the new belt over each of the drive pulleys. Often the manufacturer recommends a sequence for feeding the belt around the pulleys.

Pry out the idler or generator pulley to put tension on the belt.

    0900823d8004ed74.jpg

Install the belt squarely in the grooves of each pulley.

    0900823d8004ed75.jpg

Before adjusting belt tension, check for proper pulley alignment. This is especially critical with serpentine belts. Measure the belt deflection in its longest span. If a belt tension gauge is available, use it and compare the tension to specifications.
If a belt is too tight, wear to bearings for the water pump, alternator, and engine crankshaft can result.
Some late-model Chrysler engines require a torque reading to be taken when tension is applied to the generator drive belt. This is especially important on the longer, multiribbed V-belts.

    0900823d8004ed76.jpg

Pry the idler or generator pulley to adjust the belt to specifications.

    0900823d8004ed77.jpg

Tighten the idler or generator pulley fastener.

    0900823d8004ed78.jpg

Start the engine and check the belt for proper operation.

Any more questions please ask. Good luck.

    1995 dodge ram 1500 V8

hi, you should find a serp. belt routing diagram on the cross member that supports your radiator. if not- disconnect neg batt terminal for safety. you'll need a long breaker bar metric. as most, if not all fasteners on your ram are in metric. cant remember right size socket, but just go through your metric set and "eyeball"it. once you have the proper socket-detention the belt by pulling breaker bar clockwise. remove old belt. it maybe useful to take a picture of how your old belt is routed with a camera equipped cell phone (if it is still on) so that if you get into trouble, you can look at the picture as a reference point. new serpentine belt install--insert new belt over the cooling fan route under crank pulley-over fan pulley, around p/s pump pulley,up and around a/c comp pulley, under idler pulley, over alternator pulley and finally around tensioner pulley. pull breaker bar clockwise to slip belt past and onto the tensioner pulley. release tension on tensioner. be sure to check tensioner indexing marks located on the tensioner arm this is to make sure the new belt is installed properly. reconnect neg batt cable to terminal-remove any hand tools from engine bay, start engine and observe belt operation. hope this helps!
