I have a 1993 Plymouth Sundance 2.2L that will not start. Not getting fuel to the throttle body. Changed the fuel pump and filter. In doing some diagnostics, have no power to the pump. Chilton says the power comes from the battery through the ignition switch then the asd relay( auto shut down relay) Checked this relay and it is ok. Coil is good and switching contacts switch. The fusible just before the relay is good too. Turn the key and have no power to the asd relay. The descriptions tell there is NO pump relay and NO pump fuse, and I haven't been able to locate them either. I'm at a loss.

Behind the dash. You will have to pull the whole dash assembly. It looks like a little radiator.

Do me a favor and cycle the key to on, then off, then on, then off, then back to on,& leave it in the on position.(not start) Now watch & record any flashes of the check engine light. You will get a number of flashes, then a pause, then more flashes. for example: 3 flashes, pause, then 3 more, would be code 33. It will always be a 2 digit number. 2 flashes,pause then 5 flashes, is code 25. When you get 5 flashes, pause then 5 more, that's code 55 which means end of message. Get back to us with any codes that flash.

Why does fuel pump cycle twice and then have to reset computer?

This is common, the pump will run for 3 seconds when key is turned to the "on" position to prime the fuel system, then it will be turned on by the ECU when the engine is started by a signal from the crank sensor.

Gets spark no fuel

I suggest the following:

Perform a OBD-I diagnostic scan;
Check and replace the fuel filter;
Test the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge;
Check the fuel pressure regulator; and,
Check the fuel pump fuse and relay.

The diagnostic scan will immediately identify your problem. This is imperative should the fuel pump be inoperative.

Back fireing through carbarator will not start and vacume lines

this year of car has throttle body injection not a carburetor,the backfiring could be the fuel pump relay not allowing the pump to power up,or a plugged fuel filter,or a bad fuel injector,if their isn`t at least 15lbs fuel pressure the injectors will not open to spray fuel

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
An intermittent rough idle may occur during cold engine operation, within 3 minutes after engine start up, in rainy weather and temperatures of approximately 30° to 50°F.

PARTS REQUIRED:
Quantity Part Number Part Name 1 4288298 Idle Air Control Motor (IAC) REPAIR PROCEDURE:
  1. Remove A/C motor.
  2. Install new IAC motor (P/N 4288298) and rubber O-ring, torque to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs).
CAUTION: The rubber o-ring must be installed with the IAC motor for proper operation.

I would also recommend doing a fuel pressure test to see if it loses fuel pressure overnight.

any time you replace the fuel pump you MUST replace the fuel filter. Sounds like it could be a couple of different things. Pick up coil if it has a distributor. bad coil pack. Replace fuel filter first .Good Luck!!!!

Have fuel pressure tested, or at the least, change fuel filter. Fuel pump may be on it's way out but it only takes 5 minutes to test the fuel pressure to confirm.

1993 Plymouth Sundance 2.2L cranks, no start

When you turn the ignition on the pump is energized for 2 to 3 seconds. did you check it like that. it is also energized when cranking the engine. there is a fuse then a relay then the fuel pump. the relay is ran/ energized by the ecm computer. if there is a fuse relay box under the hood you'll need to check there to. good luck

Engine idle rough

either vacuum leak, dirty throttle body, low compression, fouled plugs, dirty mass air flow swnsor, clogged fuel filter.... get to work
