See if the compressor clutch engages, check that the inner parts of the belt pulley turns together with the outer part/ belt. If not the clutch circuit or the pressure sensor connector on the pressure tube may have been disconnected during the change of the water pump. Or maybe you just run out of refridgerant? Low pressure --> the compressor runs constantly but no or little cooling effect.

Overheating is caused by:
1. plugged radiator core

2001 pt cruiser over heating wired fan direct fan works but car still over heats replaced thermostat temp. sensor fuses etc...

Sounds like the engine head gasket needs to be replaced. The gasket has deteriated from the engine cylinder and coolant passage and overheating the coolant. Sometimes you will see coolant mixed with engine oil, or milky solution on the oil dipstick

Car is getting hot, replaced timing belt, water pump, belts and fluids. It gets hot while idle. Fuses are good but notice when turning on a/c to check fan operation the compressor isnt coming on.

the elec fan works on heat sensor and should work whether or not the a/c is on. trace the fan wire back untill you find the sensor and check power

2001 pt cruiser

I recently had the same problem with my car. The solution for me was to remove the coolant lines going into the firewall(be sure to let it cool down first)and blow out the heater core with compressed air.I went from blowing barely luke warm air to awesome heat...good luck
