Hello, we have a problem with our Saturn SL 1997. Suddenly the alarm system started. We did not do anything which could start an alarm system. We tried to put the key into the ignition but nothing happens. We locked and unlocked all doors and treid to turn the car on again, but nothing happen except the alarm system sounds. Now we figuered out which fuse is responsible for the alarm system and put it off. We tried again to start the motor, but nothing happens. And yes it is an automatic and yes we are in park. Please help us! It is sunday and everything is closed! We are on vacation and aren't mechanics we just want to have fun :D :D Thank you for your help Michael & Philipp

My guess is it has something to do with the anti theft security system. This is the system that has to do with that little black chip in the shaft of you key. Is the SECURITY light lit up on the dash when you put the key in? If you see it at all, this is your problem. Check this link for info http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/ and answers to the problem.

1997 saturn sl did some errands, then wouldn't re-start

If it wouldn't start, you have to see if you are missing fuel or fire. Could be a bad sensor, or a bad fuel pump, or if the security light is blinking, a problem with the security system.

Saturn won't start/ key problems

You need to program the system,it's probally in theft deterrent mode & disables the starter. To program your new remote locate the diagnostic connector under the drivers side of dash.To program the new remote Jumper a paper clip between the #4 & #8 terminal you will hear the locks cycle & the trunk will pop. While the terminalsv are jumped hold down lock & Unlock on the remote at the same time until you hear the locks cycle again, remove the jumper wire or paper clip & you should be good.

Are you locking the car with the key fob? If so yo must unlock the car also with remote or alarm will sound when you unlock with key.Or someone may have set your system to passive arming. If this is the case you local saturn dealer will probally reset it back for you.Hope this helps

Car Won't Start

I would start with checking out the alarm system if it has an immobilizer with it as well as an alarm, if there is no immobiliser with the alarm then I would check the ignition, I would also check that the starter is working properley and not binding. also check your fuses, under the hood there should be a fuse box with large fuses in it and some relays, it is quite possible that one of these fuses or relays has quit, for the starting system, I hope that this helps.
