Possible the headlight/dimmer switch is bad. Should be part of the turn signal switch assembly. Try moving the switch back and forth many times to see if the connection is bad.

Hi, did you know there is a recall on the indicator/headlight stalk. The plug in the base may be faulty. I wolud check with a Mitsubishi dealer or gGoogle, if your car is included. You need your VIN number. Does it work when you pit your hazards on or you lock the car? If not may be it is the plug in the back of the globe. Good Luck

BCM see other post on it and the clock spring.

This could be either the clock spring in the steering column or it could be the body control module. The BCM. They are about 80 dollars USED.

Take off the negative battery cable for 10 minutes. While waiting for that make sure you have all the ground straps connected that go to the battery cable end and to the engine.

go to the link given get the repair manual and i am sure you will fix the problem your self most probably your headlight switch is providing the power to the solenoid that why you are hearing the clicking noise and when you on the headlights the become less and the noise stopped but just check it from the repair manual i am sending you the link http://toolsnyou.com/

headlights are separate from the tail lamps. Tail lamps are tied to cluster. check fuses first.

If you open the hood, behind the headlight assembly you will see the motor that lifts the headlight, there is a knob that you can rotate to manually to crank up the headlight until you repair it.

Before you put it up manually, turn on the headlights with the hood open and listen to see of the motor is making noise, if it is you can try a repair kit, otherwise get a replacement from the auto part store or junk yard.
